My Halo 5 Gripes

1.) Can’t mute people in lobby, at least, not that I’m aware of. I have to sit through some guy with his kinect on and his baby screaming in the bathroom for 30 seconds before the game starts.

2.) Hate the armor/“unlockables” idea. A new kid could have all the best armor if he bought some packs. Also gives a huge disadvantage in Warzone. Much easier to run around and not care about spawning power weapons when you still have x100 left in your vault, while people who actually played the game only have a handful that they need to use sparingly. You have no idea how easy it is for a team to win when someone on that team can spam Spartan Lasers and rockets every time their energy level is back on.

I think Halo: Reach did it well, do things to unlock certain armor, and then buy it with credits you earned playing the game.

I also dislike that you can’t see people’s armor in the lobby. That’s one of the reasons to even have customizable armor, is to look at it in the lobby before a game. I’m not really paying any attention to what weapon skin you have, or your chestpiece, while I’m in the middle of fighting for my life. Hell, I can’t even look at people’s armor AFTER the game. Everyone is blacked out in the carnage report, they only have a silhouette (although I have found a little glitch to see what they look like)

3.) On that topic, again, I really don’t like how your chestpiece is all one piece of armor. Again, I loved Halo: Reach, where you could customize your shoulderpads, gauntlets, etc etc. This game has a whopping 3 pieces of armor you can change.

On the topic of Warzone

4.) How the hell does the points system work for defeating bosses? I swear I’ve taken out 80% of an enemy’s health, only to die at the last moment, respawn, and then have someone else shoot him a couple of times and kill him, and I am awarded no points. Even when I am alive, it doesn’t seem like I get anything for helping kill a boss. From what I’ve seen so far, only the top two people who were alive and did the most damage get any points. I’ve yet to get any kind of “boss assist”. Definitely turns me off from trying to kill a boss, especially if it’s not full health, because chances are I won’t get any points for killing it.

Example- Warden Eternal. I unload 2 magazines into him with a fuel rod, and die. I spawn with another fuel rod, since I have a few in my vault, and unload 2 more mags into him. Then, I get into a gauss hog and shoot him in the face about 8 times, and then die again. Warden Eternal’s health is at about 10% now, I respawn. My team finishes off Warden Eternal, and I get absolutely 0 points for my effort.

5.) There should definitely still be some vehicle and weapon spawns, instead of having people entirely rely on their vault to spawn things. Again, not really fair for people who don’t have the certification yet and just get murked by the guy that can spawn Scorpions and Banshees.

6.) Speaking of Scorpions and Banshees, can you not board people after boosting/evading/whatever that move is called? I swear I’ve sat in positions waiting for a Wraith or Scorpion to come out, and then jump and boost to their vehicle, only to not be able to board their vehicle.

7.) The auto-aim seems much more aggressive than in other Halo’s. Many times my crosshairs will get taken off of my target at the last second because another enemy ran infront of the one I’m shooting at, robbing my of my headshot. Many times it ends up giving them the chance to take me out while I’m trying to correct.

8.) Is there any ranking system for Warzone to get even teams? It seems like almost every game I play, the game is an overwhelming loss or win. I’ve only had 2 games where the end score was close and it was actually fun and challenging to play, and exciting to see who would win.

That’s about all I have for Warzone off the top of my head, now for the Campaign…

9.) Definitely overhyped.

10.) Was disappointed to see why John is a “traitor” Hardly spoilers, since you find out, like, mission 2 what happens, but basically John was like “Hey, umm, I’m going to go to this planet to see what’s up with Cortana, see ya!”, and the military says “ummm, no?” I thought it was going to be a much more intense conflict as to why he was being “hunted”, because this was pretty lame.

11.) You hardly play as Chief. You play as him twice until episode/level 6, and then only play as him once for the rest of the game, for a whopping 3 times, or at least, that’s what I’ve heard. I’m only on level 8 now, but this isn’t some kind of fact that people would lie about, so I’ll trust their word.

12.) Your AI teammates are absolutely worthless. Half of the time they don’t even shoot at anything until you tell them to, and when you do tell them to, they run out into the firefight and die. They also get stuck on geometry a lot when trying to revive you. The only reason I bother having them around is because I still do need to be revived from time to time.

For example, they just don’t shoot at anything. At one point in the game, before fighting the first Warden Eternal, I loaded my team up with 2 snipers and a SAW. I was in that little control area where you active the turrets, I expected my team to be sniping down some of the crawlers at least, as that would be really helpful since they have unlimited ammo. But they just sat there behind me watching me shoot people. So, I tried telling them to take a position near the window… Still nothing. So I told them to attack one of the crawlers. Instead of using their snipers, they ran all the way to the bottom of the control building, ran into the firefight, and tried killing them. Needless to say, all 3 died and I had to sit there and pick off the crawlers by myself with limited ammo in my DMR.

That’s about all my gripes are about the Campaign. Not a great story, not terrible either. I haven’t finished it yet, though, so that may change.

As for Arena, I don’t really have any problems with it, other than it seems like it’s TOO competitive oriented. Like, come on, give me some BTB, it can’t be hard to put that in as a playlist, can it? I don’t always want to be trying that hard.

And some general gripes.

13.) I don’t know if this is just me, but when I try backing out of a multiplayer lobby, it puts me all the way back at the homescreen, instead of the playlist selection. It takes a long time to load and I basically end up having to reenter the playlist selection lobby, since all I wanted to do was change my gametype from Breakout to Team Arena.

14.) I feel like I’m always cramped. Many times I try to run for cover or boost/evade away, I’m always getting caught on something and die. I don’t know if all the sudden I’m playing differently than I do in other Halo games, or if there is some kind of game mechanic that’s screwing me over, but I’m constantly hitting walls when trying to back into doors or get behind cover.

These are my major gripes about this game so far that I can remember.

tl;dr

-Can’t mute people in lobby, bigger problem being you can’t see who you’re playing with, look at their service record and armor, etc etc.

-Customization/unlockables is a complete mess of a system and doesn’t really feel “fun” to me. Go back to the Halo: Reach system, or make some kind of hybrid between the two.

  • Warzone sucks. You don’t get points for helping kill bosses or capturing bases, especially if you die before it happens.

  • Campaign AI are completely atrocious.

-Hardly any Arena playlists.

Tl;dr

Solution: don’t play warzone.

I dont have to worry about armor because I have the Helioskrill from beating all Halo MCC games on legendary. (Easy Solution, Sort of)

Lmao, Warzone is a major problem with this game, but considering it was one of the most advertised aspects of the game, and basically half of the multiplayer, it’s kind of a waste to just “not play it”

I’m just voicing my opinions on the matter. Maybe someone at 343 will read the post and put it down in their notes to be discussed, I don’t know.

Umm, that’s cool? I have it too, although I really dislike the helmet, I think the chestpiece is kind of cool.

Anyone agree with any of these problems or have their own?
