To start I am going to say that i been a Halo fan ever since Halo Combat Evolved in 2002. why 2002 well that’s when i discover Halo since i did not own an Xbox in 2001 I was only 12 at the time.
Halo 4 represents a new beginning a new trilogy just like Halo CE did.
Halo is truly a wonder , a beautiful universe, where you can just get lost in it
and be happy about it. Now lets get to the point the review itself.
It’s been 3 days since Halo 4 was release and millions are already playing, including myself non stop i may add.
I already play all of Halo 4 , Campaign , War games , forge, Spartans Ops etc.
Lets start with the simple stuff.
Forge : simple as ever yet much improve.
Spartan Ops: Love the idea of a second Campaign deliver this way 343 really set the bar high with this idea for the rest of the games.
Campaign : This is the long one, the story itself is tell by Campaign and i love that we still have Halo but the story is push way to fast way to far.
Back a decade ago even 5 years ago the Forerunners where something he just knew about but never really expect to see and we were ok with it.
It was just this mysterious race of ancient aliens who sacrifice themself to save us and the Galaxy. Now their evil and he even had a major war with them over 100,000 years ago? anyway not a big fan of this idea but that’s just me.
The Biggest issue with me was some changes not all of them since some are great.
Weapons are the best so far, Br is back . But some vehicles look and feel way worse, pelican looks old, warthog too. no hornets? tank also felt better in previous games. And Armor the Master Chief mysterious change during a 4 year cryo sleep to the Mark VII armor makes no sense at all.
To start the armor looks horrible with a green color that has no shine, helmet looks like a bad drawing of the Mark VI helmet, and the visor has no shine either i mean completely dull with no life behind it. Spartans IV look way better compare to the Master Chief.
Did they ever consider bringing back the Mark IV armor? which one? well its only the coolest armor the Halo Universe has ever had. if you don’t know which one is it ,well watch Halo Wars cut scenes. Spartans Jerome 092, Douglas and Alice 130 wear it.Speaking about other Spartans II why did 343 did not bring any of the other Spartans II to the main story(the game)?. Fred 114 , Kelly 087 and Linda 054 all major Characters on Books and other Halo media.
Since Halo 4 would cover all Halo as they said (books,comics,series etc)why not bring the Spartans II? why make even More Spartans ?(Spartans IV). Also why not included Spirit of Fire and their Spartans red team? for one they would cover their story since Bungie never care about it and just left the fans wondering. this is just a few things i felt 343 fail to bring. Besides that Campaign was very fun , amazing graphics and Prometheans are really cool enemies , really risky move on them but they pull that one with an A.
In General Campaign is really cool , lack the Halo Music in a big way . But still Halo 4 campaign should not dissappoint any Halo fans out there.
War Games: on a more positive note this is where 343 shine and shine big!
never felt so addicted to play a game online since Halo 3, 5 years ago.
Weapons are amazingly balance, abilities as well as loadouts are great.
the game has a great pace and balance is just shocking how good it is.
while the system is not as great as Halo 3 with Ranking since all players rank up win or lose and eventually will get to level 50. Is way better than Reach Ranks that made no sense after General. and the Specialization idea seems great , games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 had amazing success because of it and now even Gears of War is using the same idea.
Bravo 343 ! War games will keep me busy for years until Halo 5 for sure!
I fell lucky to share this times with 343 and be able to be part of the community and experience the new Halo.
