I was just wondering whether anyone else who has halo 4 is facing the same problem. No stupid posts because yes i have my volume turned up and my TV is not on mute because the sound is fine on all of my other games. Can anyone give me some advice of how to get the sound working please, i would really appreciate it.

Try unplugging all of the cables connecting the Xbox to the TV and vice-versa. It may as simple as a loose cable. It also may be a frayed wire in the cables.
I have a legit limited edition version of the game. 
You could take it back and explain there’s no audio, then ask for another one. They can’t make you pay twice.
This is not a troll post, but have you tried switching it off then on again?

Are you using HDMI?
try switching it around or make sure its connected properly
Mess around with the AV cable or switch the switch on the cable if it has one
Try a different channel on the tv
unplug the av cables and re-attach them

Just turn of/turn on your Xbox this problem happens with all Games that you played for over 8hours straight.

I don’t have a limited edition though, but my xbox sounds all work and the cutscenes have sound, but when I want to play or see in-game movies, the sound just mutes out…
I don’t even have Menu music? Not that I know if Halo 4 has any, but I don’t…
This is really annoying…

I’m from Holland… and I think I’ve found out what the problem is.
When I restarted the game after updating, it seemed to solve the problem.
So it’s a bug that needed a fix.

Hmm… It seems I’m having this problem every time I start Halo 4 after my xbox shutdown…
So I need to start it up two times, in order for the sound to work…

I’m having the same problem. When I play the game, in the campaign, cortana, master chief, and any other person talking while playing are all muted. I have checked and rechecked every cable multiple times so I know its not that. I also know its not because of cables because when the sound isn’t working, all of the sounds for the xbox menu (from the xbox button in the middle of the controller) are working!! WTH!!! I also bought a legit collectors edition.
+1 for this problem. I’m in Canada and have the standard edition.
Audio from xbox works fine, getting sound out from the game except the speech in cut scenes is almost silent while all other noise is regular volume. Very frustrating.
Going to try installing game onto hard drive to see if that works as the starting the game up twice mode mentioned above didn’t do anything for me. After that I’ll try running the HDMI cable straight to the TV instead of through my receiver
