CAMPAIGN
… amazing, how to begin, although the FUD kinda bugs me a little the 1st mission was perfect to start of the campaign.
MISSION 2
i get the feels the moment i come out of that cave to see the forerunner sky tower and at the last part in the elevater room.
MISSION 3
this mission i find to be a chour to go through, the entering of the didact was awesome, especially his little speech. the ending ghost trench run was a great throwback to halo 1 and 3
MISSION 4
it was ok again i find this 1 to be a bit of a chour but its still a great mission. the mantis section was quite fun and explouring the infinity was pretty cool.
MISSION 5
i really like this mission, the mammoth was a awesome vehicle to be inside and the lich was just great and should deffinatly return.
the part with the librarian was really interesting and i watch it all the time.
MISSION 6
what to say … u fly a PELICAN for soooo long fans have begged to fly a pelican, not a sh*tty easter egg. i cant remember a lot of this mission as i always go to the last tower but i love the platform sections with the banshees really fun.
MISSION 7
interesting to say the least, love the teabagging hologram easter egg, the ending cutscene was outstanding, loved the venting covenant outside parts
MISSION 8
best mission in the game by far buetyfull looking mission music great and love the broadswords controls.
OVERALL
best halo campaign ive played halo 2 being a close second, a VERY close second.
it feels like already ive played this campaign more than the others and i just cant get enough of it.
9.5 (slash, stupid brocken button)10
Story:
M1 - yeah decent start, I just wish it had felt more like an invasion.
M2 - it’s ok but there’s nothing really motivating me besides the scenery.
M3 - not really memorable, besides Didact’s awakening.
M4 - now I have some motivation.
M5 - pretty good, frequent lull in combat gives Chief and Cortana time to chat.
M6 - not really sure what to think, I only remember the ending
M7 - things get pretty mythical
M8 - meh. Though the end of the level was interesting.
Gameplay:
M1 - ok for a starter mission but I was hoping there’d be some risk taking.
M2 - it’s really underrated. It’s got a good amount of combat, glitches, and tricks that add a lot of replay value.
M3 - quite frustrating combat, but there’s some good fun at the start, at rally point charlie (Covies vs. Prometheans), and to a lesser extent, rally point delta. Weapon crates easter egg at the end is pretty neat.
M4 - the only encounters that stood out were the holdout and landing zone fights. Combat can be a grind, by rally point charlie, I’ve lost the will to fight. It’s also very limited in terms of exploration.
M5 - somewhat bad pacing, especially at the beginning, but it’s made up for it’s massive reservoir of glitches and tricks. Really good level to explore once you get past the soft kill zones/invis barriers.
M6 - felt like I was running pointless errands and the Pelican section was botched but there’s a fair share of combat, glitches, and tricks. Grav hammer easter egg is pretty neat.
M7 - things get pretty mythical. Fair share of combat, glitches, tricks.
M8 - combat (on foot) is pretty engaging, tricks are somewhat interesting.
Verdict:
M1 - it’d be a lot more worthwhile if there was some difficulty scaling.
M2 - it’s one of my most played H4 missions.
M3 - it’s bleak but tolerable.
M4 - just when things get interesting, the gameplay takes a turn for the worst.
M5 - it’s one of my most played H4 missions.
M6 - it’s lame but tolerable.
M7 - things get pretty mythical. It’s constantly vying for third place (actually, it might be my third favorite mission).
M8 - not the best ending to a Halo game but it’s lengthy at least.
Most favorite mission: Reclaimer, Requiem
Least favorite mission: Infinity, Shutdown
Campaign Score: 7/10
I quite liked it, only problems with it are it was short (seems like all the games with good stories are short so oh well), there wasn’t really any variation in the missions, and there weren’t any levels with vehicles and beach (original trilogy had them and I replay the living crap out of them)
Where is Im neutral with this button?
what annoyed me the most was the conversation that took place between laskey and the chief while looking down on earth at the end. chief had a PERFECT chance to open up and let out some emotion, but no. as insensitive as a rock. maybe he IS the machine cortana implied.
