This is what I personally think will happen regarding the talk about a Halo 4 Beta. When someone from 343 has been asked about a beta for Halo 4, the response I keep hearing is something along the lines of " It’s not in our schedule" and most people think that this means no beta at all, however I believe there is still a chance for a beta. I really think the beta will come down to if 343 has time, and if they need to build even more hype for the game. As far as I have heard no one at 343 has straight up denied a beta possibility, they just say it’s not likely to happen. Another thing to consider is E3. To me, 343 is going to need to do more than just show some gameplay at E3 to win people over with Halo 4, and when you think about it this year, so far Microsoft doesn’t seem to have any huge surprises that are being rumored, it’s no secret a new COD will come out this year, along with Bioshock, so I think Microsoft will need to do something to wow people, and I believe that wow moment will be when a Halo 4 beta is announced at E3. There it is, my opinion concerning beta talks, feel free to comment.
But there’s no need for a public beta–not when this is the first game of a new trilogy. People will give them feedback based upon Halo 4’s similarities to Halo 3 and Reach, which is not what should happen. A public beta makes sense for Halo 5, but not for Halo 4.

Honestly, this will sound contradictory to my post, but I agree with you that Halo 4 does not/ should not have a beta. I was just putting in my opinion on what I think might happen, given the E3 situation with Microsoft. I just think that if Microsoft doesn’t make some sort of surprise announcement, like a Halo 4 Beta, at E3 they will really have nothing to showcase or get people excited about. But I do agree with you, I just think a beta is still a possibility at this point.

Very likely they’ll announce a new console, which will nudge Halo 4 squarely into a corner for a few months.

Good point, that would be Microsofts big surprise. But if they do that then I think they would have to build even more hype for Halo 4 so that people still remember it. In my opinion I think a new Xbox announcement would be doom for Halo 4, they keep saying that Halo 4 is a 360 game, so to announce a new Xbox would mean that people would stop buying old 360’s and the games, so they would be wise to include backwards compatability of some sort so that Halo 4 could be played on both consoles. Otherwise people will not but Halo 4 as much because the console it is being played on is essentially outdated.
