So i decided to keep track of how many times i died on my first Halo 3 Legendary run. Sadly i did not do this for Halo Reach or ODST (The other only Halo games i have beaten on Legendary). So yeah, if you kept count. Did you do better or worse then me?
Sierra 117: 13 Deaths
Crows Nest: 26 Deaths
Tsavo Highway: 63 Deaths (Explanation done in the comments section)
The Storm: 23 Deaths
Floodgate: 9 Deaths
The Ark: 36 Deaths
The Covenant: 22 Deaths
Cortana: 5 Deaths (Took my time and took it as slow as i could, finished it in an hour)
Halo: 8 Deaths
So the main reason i died a ton on Tsavo Highway, was because i had to restart it. Reason being: I completely forgot about the 2 Sniper Jackal at the beginning of the level. So i was mainly relying upon the RNG of my Battle Rifle cross-mapping the Sniper Jackals in the valley. After i realized that and restarted the level, the remaining deaths came from a few Beam Rifle Brutes, and my idiocy of not fully knowing of how to properly deal with Choppers on Legendary.

The main deaths were on the 2nd part of the mission, where i finally realized how useless the Carbine is against the Flood. In any aspect other then Infection Forms. As for the cause of death. I got jumped by Pure Forms twice and didn’t see it coming. The other 3 were caused by me trying to rush to the Pelican at the end while the Arbiter goes ham with a Flamethrower.
I do like seeing death counts, was this your first attempt OP? It’s a good run if it’s your first time.
Though I do have to ask, you mentioned the Jackal Snipers, which I assume is toward the latter part of the mission with the Choppers and the Wraiths. Did you solve this with a different loadout once you restarted? Also, I’d love to see your solution to the Choppers, how did you overcome this obstacle given you mentioned it gave you difficulty?

Yup, as soon as i discovered the Jackal Snipers i quickly restarted the mission, ran them over with the Warthog (always good fun) and swapped out my Assault Rifle :’( for a Beam Rifle. That made the mission somewhat easier. As for the Choppers…my solution was to mash the left trigger button, for what ever reason. That makes the Chopper shoot a bit faster, then the normal method of just holding down the left trigger. It was a combination of Button Mashing, and hoping to Master Chief that they weren’t gonna come out in full force. And then there was the friggin’ Wraith, oy was that thing pain. I couldn’t just snipe the gunner cause there were Choppers all over the place, and even when i could get close, i’d get rammed. And i had a hard time dealing with the Choppers cause they always came out en masse, on top of those i had to hope the Wraith was gonna miss it’s shot. It usually never EVER does. So you can imagine my supreme happiness when this mission was done and over with.

Energy Sword and Needlers are two of the best weapons to use against the Flood, especially the Ranged Flood. The ones that transform and fire at you from a distance. On Legendary, they are THE MOST ANNOYING forms to kill.

I pretty much used a bit of everything on Cortana to make some fun out of Legendary. Cause i love me some kick -Yoink!- variety, and boy oh boy was that fun. Assault Rifles to Plasma Rifles (2nd best option by the Vi, since Flood hate Plasama), to SMG ot pistol to sword. I get that there are best and worst weapons. But i kinda just went with my own flow of things. Although i do admit that running for the Pelican at the end while Arbiter was going full ham with the Flamethrower was a very bad idea lol.
