Disclaimer:
When starting Halo MCC, you’ll need to use the built-in “Play Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled (Mods and Limited…) option”, so you won’t get any achievements, etc. for completing levels, etc. while using this. Which means this can’t be used for cheating, it’s just for a better personal campaign experience.
Summary:
Halo 2 Anniversary campaign levels rebalanced to make Legendary the difficult, but fair, challenge it should have been.
For example: If you have full-shields Jackal snipers are not 1SK.
I’ve put a lot of time/effort over the last year putting this together (starting with developing/testing it with Halo 2 Vista), so it’s very well polished.
If you don’t find playing the original Legendary difficulty of Halo 2 much fun, give this a try. I think you’ll find it as enjoyable (and yet as challenging) as the Halo CE and Halo 3 campaigns on Legendary. Have fun!

Tbiesty have to say you fixed the Halo 2 Campaign on Legendary that bungie never did back in 2004 (if they just had more time to actually play test it before its original release)! However I do have one minor disagreement with the mod is when you mentioned (in the video) getting killed easily by your allies by melee easily with the elites in the Arbiter missions in the original and then in your mod you disable this. I think you should keep it enabled still but cut down on the attack melee power instead of the elites when they melee the player, maybe not kill you in one hit on Legendary, but maybe 2 or more hits would be better (to serve as a warning to get out of the way or something)? I mean to keep it fair I think so your not exploiting your allies (like killing them easily yourself on purpose) for whatever reason but also to not keep it too cheap either. Kind of like how now the Jackel Snipers don’t bot snipe you on your mod. Keeping it disabled will lead to exploits I think.
I’ll be honest, they should have a Legendary (Original) and Legendary (New) option for Halo 2, maybe not able to unlock achievements, but to make the damn weekly challenge just a little bit easier to do.
I’m gonna play through this now and see how it feels.

Part of my reasoning for this is that AI friendly melee damage was already disabled in the original game when the allies are wielding a sword, so this just extends to it work the same way regardless of the weapon they have.

OK in the original for non-sword weapons, do they one hit kill you on Legendary or is there no damage? If there is damage but not 1 hit kill, how much?

Original Legendary: If the Elite ally has a sword, they do no friendly melee damage, but if the Elite ally has another weapon, it’s friendly 1 hit kill.
Rebalanced Legendary: If the Elite ally has a sword, they do no friendly melee damage, and if the Elite ally has another weapon, they do no friendly melee damage
OK but now since they have no way of getting back at you for killing your teammates if you betray them (remember on Halo CE the first mission on Pillar of Autumn where if you kill Captain Keyes, a firing squad comes out and they kill you for betraying them, but your not dead in one hit?). I mean you can make it this way I guess but there is no consequence now for betraying your own teammates now. 1 hit kill was too much originally speaking but I sort of believe that a middle ground where half the damage it would be from the original for meleeing instead in which I think if you try to take on too many of your teammates now on purpose is what it should be, they should kill you over time still but not in one hit, you should try to fight it out. If you fail, then you revert back to your last checkpoint.

Your Elite allies do still shoot you if you betray them too much. This doesn’t change that at all. This it just so the accidental melee kills AI do to you don’t happen, which sucks when you are playing with Iron skull on.
Updated my Halo 2 Anniversary Rebalanced campaign mod to version 1.1.0.
–Only one change: Added functional health bar to HUD
Thanks for making the mod. However, the only unfortunate thing is that the Master Chief Collection doesn’t offer any forms of mod support on Xbox. Otherwise, I would probably test it.
Any chance of a behind-the-scenes making of a mod? Because how do people mod?
