My Goodbyes to Halo

Hello old and new fans! I’m leaving and I hope for the best to all of you!

First off, I need to mention this thread is not here to provoke any kind of “War” down below. I really just want to voice my opinion on the Halo 5 campaign. I also haven’t played the Beta which looked amazing. It’s just the campaign that looks wrong.

I’m leaving because Halo isn’t the game for me anymore. Personally my favorite Halo games are Halo 2 and 3, like most other fans. Nothing about the rather short game-play 343i showed at E3 reminded me of Halo. I could have watched Halo 5’s campaign trailer without any knowledge of agent Locke, and the Guardian etc… and called it a new IP. I may just be nostalgic as -Yoink-, but everything from the quick time events, to that Promethean Dude just didn’t look or feel like halo. Yes, I understand Halo must move move forward and stay innovative. Halo hasn’t moved forward, it took a different path, which turned it into just another game. Something I don’t call Halo.

RANT AHEAD

My Issues:
-It is a rail shooter. Yes they split up near the end but the quick-time events and voice acting kept all of them on the same path. Halo 2 and 3 let you progress through the level at your own pace, without the game constantly pushing you forward. I also hate quick-time events.
-The voice acting. It’s trash. Constant chatter between all of the characters about stuff I don’t care about. All of it reminds me of -Yoinking!- Blues Clues, or even Dora the Explorer. None of it feels real, it feels robotic, and “Better than being at the bottom of the ocean” was not funny. I don’t want to find the chief, I don’t care what he’s done, because I’ve come to realize that no matter what, his reasoning for going “AWOL” is more justified than what this phony team of power rangers have against him. I hope they all get killed halfway through just so I can play as the Chief, because that’s what I wan’t in Halo, the Chief!
-None of the characters are likable, in fact I hate them. I want them dead as I said before.
-Cartoon graphics… Remember how awesome Halo used to look. War torn cities littered with garbage and rubble. It was so immersive! It had a sense of loss. All I felt from the game-play was emptiness…

Honestly, I’ll being playing F4 and Doom. Those games continue to do everything people expect while improving the experience.
It’s Been an awesome ride (Up until H4 of course). Good Luck Old, New, and Future Halo fans! I hope Halo 5 is the game you guys have been waiting for.

I am just going to post my reasons for disagreeing with you. You leaving does not bother me.

Every Halo has been a “Start here, go there” game. They are trying to make this one more open
Almost every Halo has had you as the lone ranger. The guy all by himself going out there and taking on armies. This one gives you a team. Chatter adds to that. Ever seen a stack of Military guys clearing a building? We talk
I like Chief and Blue Team
I think the game looks awesome.

I respect most of what you said but agree with very little of it. I feel at very least that you are jumping the gun with some of your conclusions.

F*ck you. The Halo community is toxic.

Thank you.

Yes, I think most of us can agree that the E3 demo was pretty bland and CoD-ish.

But that’s not how the whole campaign will be. Ready Up Live confirmed that each level is extremely complex, and there’s different paths you can take. A lot of the missions are also more open-spaced. Did you see some of the footage after the trailer? There were some massive vistas and large battles.

It’s not fair to judge all of Halo 5 by the demo alone. Demos are only supposed to represent the mechanics of the game and tease the story, not give us an in-depth view of what Halo 5’s campaign will be. Besides, how much of Halo 2’s demo make it into the final game? You’re judging the campaign way too early.
