My friend and I won every placement match, he gets Plat, I get Bronze. PLEASE 343 HELP

We played all ranked placement matches together, I was top player for 80% of games (So I was doing much better than my friend the whole time). He gets placed Platinum 3 and I get Bronze 6. My heart sunk, we were trying so hard every game 10 matches straight and won every single game. How could I possibly get ranked bronze when I won every game and was top player for most of them? I’m praying someone from 343 can look at our accounts and put me in platinum because I lost all motivation after seeing bronze rank. I feel cheated and im so furious that we could have gotten such different ranks even though we played them all together and I did better. I’ve never been more excited to play a game in so long and this killed me. My account is SuperiorRS, my friend’s is GrimmNostalgia.

You really expect someone to look into youraccount and fix something by hand? Lol… just play the game, there are probably enough reasons you got bronze. Accuracy, weapons you killed with, playing the objective, etc. You don’t get put into bronze for no reason…

I had above 60,70 accuracy, killed mostly with the BR, had at least 1, 2 captures every CTF game, every oddball game I was running the ball, with one game holding it for the 3:40 total. What’s your reason now?

There is probably nothing 343 will do for you. I’d say if you’re as good as your placement matches indicate you should be able to level up to platinum pretty quickly.

How was your performance each game? It looks at more than just win/loss.

It’s 12 ranks from bronze 6 to plat, that’s easily more than 20 games. I did better than my friend every game and he get plat 3 and I got bronze 6, this is an issue. Something wrong happened here and I do expect 343 to do something about it. How can two players play together every match and win, and place so far apart from each other?

Were your KDAs positive? That seems to be the ONLY metric Ranked goes by. So even if you got 20 kills, if you got a near equal amount of deaths with very few assists to offset the deaths. You wont rank up. That’s what happened to me. I ranked low gold, almost ranked down, then gained one rank. My KDAs are atrocious even if I get lots of Oddball time or flag caps. Too many deaths count against ranking up it would seem regardless of performance.

This might be it, my KD is .93 according to HaloTracker

You’re so right, it’s a terrible way of ranking. Sick of getting needless deaths while playing objective and losing so much rank at the end of the game when I had two teammates sitting in the corner the whole game. Was really hoping for the classic 1-50 system back but what do I know.

Well there you go. It’s not gonna put someone with a negative K/D in Platinum, sorry dude.

You can’t fault him for not knowing how it calculates ranking up.

I’m bummed because I prefer ranked for the BRs and players more focused on the actual game but I’m not quite good enough to rank up. I do seem to be holding my rank now but if I split up/have a bad day, I could lose it fast lol

Also I did not knwo about Halo Tracker. This is great considering Infinite doesn’t show you any of this unlike MCC. Thanks!

I guess this is my answer. This killed my motivation to play the game, I played so well and KD only shouldnt be a determining factor. I should have at least been in gold at least silver for winning every game. wish I could show how I was top player every game but halo tracker doesnt show that

Well, wins are a part of it, but killing and suppressing enemy spawns are a big part of the game, even in objective.

I know it sucks being placed low. I’ve been there before in other games. It just means you have room for improvement.

Enjoy the free KD boosting while you rank up

That’s just it though. In a game like Halo, KDA is basically everything. It’s possible to win 10 games in a row but be carried by your team every time (I’m not saying that is what happened to you, please don’t assume anything by it). The fact of the matter is though, a team with a higher KDA than their opponents will win the game unless they purely refuse to play on the objective. Being negative is only acceptable in oddball, if you’re the ball carrier the whole time.
No disrespect, just sharing how it goes. My friend and I played every game together as well, I got placed low Diamond, he got placed low gold.

Even in oddball you should be dropping the ball to help in team fights and pick it back up when the enemy is on respawn.

If you say you’re THAT good and consistently get 70% accuracy and play objective THAT well. Stop complaining. Play the game, and get to onyx and stop QQing in forums. You got placed there for a reason. I bet if we check back in a couple weeks, you’ll still be bronze (unless your plat friend carries you to silver).

It isn’t just KDA. It is also looking at the level of your opponents.

So if you are getting a positive KDA against bronze level opponents, it could still rank you lower than getting a negative KDA against platinum level opponents.

Also, even in objective matches, it’s going to rank you based on KDA and not your objective score. So it doesn’t really care how many flags you captured or how long you held the oddball.

I looked at halotracker and I think its your accuracy and headshots (maybe assets but halotracker has them bugged per game). If I was looking at the right games you only had one game above 40% accuracy. To be honest your stats don’t make sense to me, you have low accuracy and headshot rating but you got multiple high kill low death games. You shouldn’t have been put that low and your friend shouldn’t have been put that high.

Wait really? I thought it would consider score not KDA. If they only wanted to count KDA, why would they include so many objective games? You can potentially go negative and win an objective game for your team.
