My forged/tweaked version of Complex [PICS]

This is nothing compared to some of the other stuff you guys have made, so don’t expect an epic new map. I just tried to address an issue, hope you guys like it.

For the most part, I quite like Complex. However, a common complaint is that the roof of the base in the middle is too easy to hold and spawn kill, so I tried to rectify that.

I’m all for players being rewarded for map control, but my friends and I feel that in this case players are rewarded a little too much for relatively little work. A couple of players could easily hold it and spawn kill the enemy team. The roof gives you a great view of almost the entire map, and it is large enough that you can almost get completely in to cover just by crouching. This gets worse in CTF games, as one team is at a significant disadvantage, as their base is a lot lower than the other, which really restricts the angles they have on the roof. On top of that, the only way (without jetpacks) to get on the roof is to either run to the middle, which leaves you back exposed, and gives you a poor line of sight to the roof, or attack from the other side of the building, leaving your back exposed to the enemy team.

In contrast, the enemy team not only has a better line of sight to the roof, but also has 3 additional ramps to the roof on their side, with lots of cover allowing you to get there. So, here’s what I did:

Step 1: Construct a new ramp on the “Lower” side.
Obvious step, really. Complex isn’t a “forge” map, so I had to work using containers. It’s like being in last resort again! All in all, the new stuff fits in quite well, I’m rather pleased with how it came out. One of my priorities was not to obstruct the open spaces available to vehicles, so rest assured you can still go mental with a ghost, or cap flags with a mongoose. There are a few new spots of cover, on both sides, but a well placed grenade should be able to deal with those rather easily. The purpose of this was to give some new paths to the roof, and therefore anyone attempting to control that area now has another angle to be aware of. Pics!!

Step 2: Grav lift.
Me and my friend tried using grav lifts at both bases to propel players in to the middle, but that broke CTF play. As a comprimise, I put a grav lift in the middle near where the energy sword spawns. Technically, I actually put 2, and the lower grav lift really looks awesome. The purpose of this was to provide another route to the roof, but not one that could be used in any form of stealth. Going through grav lifts makes a lot of noise, and you will have absoloutely no cover in the air or when it drops you right in the middle of the roof. It isn’t the hardest thing to defend against, but just gives you another thing to think about. MOAR PICS!!!

Well, that about does it. I haven’t had a chance to playtest it yet, so I hope some of you who share my common opinions of this map would like to give it a go. If you don’t feel this way, you could either a) Try it anyway. b) Say to yourself “It’s not for me.” and go about your business. c) Senselessly waste your time posting that I’m “bad” then challenge me to a 1v1 so you can feel good that you beat somebody who you just described as not being very good. Thanks!!

HOW TO DOWNLOAD:
The normal way: In Halo 4, press start, go down, go to file browser, search and search for my gamertag “Jackal Stew”. the file is callled “Conjugate”. If you understand the reference, congratulations, I guess.
WHEN THAT DOESN’T WORK: Open up the Xbox guide, go to your friends list and send me a friend request. Go back to your friends list, select the invitation and press A. Wait a bit, then go to my Halo 4 fileshare from there.
IF I’M SUPER POPULAR (unlikely): Send me a message on XBL, I’ll try to reply so you can see my file share.
