My first thoughts on Halo 5

Because I havent played a lot of the Beta, I will just say a couple things, but I want to do a full on analysis on what I liked and Disliked about my experience with Halo 5 later on.

The new Spartan Abilities are a nice addition, but there are too many of them. Clamber and thrust are fantastic, but the other ones have absolutely no place in this game, or in Halo. The Ground pount is cool, but is so pointless for a game focused on the shoot/grenade/meele combo Halo made famous on the console. Slide is pointless well…its taken straight from Battlefield and Destiny. There is something about it that I really dont see fitting in to a Halo multiplayer game, but I have yet to word that conclusion. Hover just gets in the way of shooting when you are jumping and zooming in. That part I have very qulckly found out, and the updated Springing feature, while much better balanced in this Beta than in Reach and Halo 4, it still makes the game faster paced that it needs to be. More on that to come with a more in depth post.

The Smart Scope feature its neat. It works well onthe SMG, pistol, and the BR/DMR, but it needs to be a faster animation. My gripe is that its WAY to similar to ADS, but if 343 wants to update the zoom mechainc with something “new”, then they might need to rebuild Smart scope on many of the weapons. I hate how much the extra visuals of the gun sights get in the way of seeing out of your peripheral vision. Probably more to come on that after I play more of the Beta.

Flinching when you get shot while hip firing. This thing absolutely pisses me off. Not only does it make aiming from the hip extremely difficult, but it is annoying to controll and is terrible game design from 343. I read online that this is being taken out later, and that is a great relief.

The sniper scope is way to dark and constricted. Open up the corners to make it easier to see targets, and lighten up the dark areas around the scope. And the middle must be openned up to make it better to view your opponent. I dont like the way its like that, but fixing those and making it zoom in and out faster will be a great inprovement.

I have only played a couple of the maps, and I am NOT a fan of the map designers at 343 this time around. Yes, I do like Truth a bit, as well as Regret and Empire if it had better spawns, but Eden is god-awful. I dont need to say much on that map to know that many other people here have said the same thing: BAD spawns, lack of flow, grenade spamming, OP Top mid controll, too many obstructions in the middle of the map.

I am trying to enjoy the Beta, but there are too many things I dont like about it, although I will continue to play it when I can to further disect how everything works. When that is done, a more thorough analysis will be written.
