My first thoughts and impressions

So, firstly I’m stoked to be playing Halo Infinite right now. It’s been a very long wait and sometimes it’s felt like it would never happen.

I’ve had a few years worth of excitement and an over active imagination about how the game would look, feel, and play. Obviously the game is still in its Beta form, so I do expect to see some quality of life changes made when the game is completely released.

I have a few points I’d like to discuss, and I’ll start off with this:

•343, you guys absolutely deserve to celebrate a great start to Infinite. The game is a breath of fresh air. The multiplayer brings some of the best aspects of the franchise into one game. You’ve managed to combine both legacy and new ideas together in a way that feels natural and dynamic to play. Which I can imagine is not an easy task. I’d like to seriously thank you all for this incredible new expansion into the universe, that for the most part seems to be very well received.

•You guys have done so much right, and I know that Infinite is still in its Beta mode, so I feel that this is the best time to discuss some of the areas that might need some tinkering so the game can deliver its full potential.

•The battle pass system. This seems to be quite a unanimous point within the community, and I happen to agree that the battle pass as it currently is doesn’t feel rewarding enough.
I’m someone that loves to do challenges, however there are some fairly situational only challenges that for the most part wouldn’t occur without a good bit of luck involved. There needs to be some post match xp earned for competing a game.
I’m sure that once the campaign arrives that there will be more challenges available and reduce the grindy feeling of creeping up the battle pass.
Regardless of that, I’ve enjoyed the rewards given in the battle pass and cannot wait to be engulfed in flames!

•Earning experience. Here’s another hot topic, and I believe I’m in the same boat as a lot of others. I’ve found myself no longer focusing on having fun but on hunting down weapons or equipment to move up the battle pass.
This has lead to people not playing objectives, frustration and anger from people on the team etc. I know how it feels because people do it on my team as well.
I’m not asking for challenges to be spoon fed to us, but I’m sure there’s a happy middle ground between skilled challenges and situational ones. I also think adding xp for completing matches would be a fantastic quality of life feature.

•Progression system outside of the battle pas. I’d love to see a global xp system added. That just gives a little more depth and excitement to the game. So no matter what, when a game ends win or lose you still have a feeling of moving forward.

•Commendations. This is another aspect of Halo I’m hoping will release alongside the campaign on Dec 8th. Having xp awarded to players for completing tiers of their commendations would be a neat addition.

Ok so that about sums up my main views on areas that I think need a little improvement on or a slightly different approach.
I’ll end on this. Once again 343, what a great start to Halo Infinite. I’ve really noticed the differences between the first and second flight to the current Beta. I’m impressed by just how much you all put into what we asked of you. Thanks for listening to your community, keep up the damn fine work!!

Nice to see someone talking about the positives and negatives in their feedback, instead of just sayin something is bad and needs to be changed. Nice detailed explanations as well, I agree with your points

have you been playing a different game? this game is turning into a micro-transaction nightmare. as far as 343 doing good with the franchise… that is funny. the last good game of halo was reach and bungie made that. all halo games after that are progressively worse than the one before it. my hopes were that they had turned it around but so far I am not being pulled to it or even looking forward to getting home from work to fire it up and playing it all night. I played 3 games and went back to playing Forza Horizon 5.
