My first map

Hey guys, i made my first map and wondered if you guys could download it and give me some feedback. It’s a small arena map made for 4v4 slayer but also supports koth and oddball.

My gamertag is savagewoif (it’s an i in wolf instead of an L)
The map is called Vanguard (Edit: was originally named Elegy)

Thanks

Edit: changed the name again guys, sorry if you checked my fileshare and couldn’t find Anodyne

Hi I downloaded this yesterday and did a fly by in forge. Didn’t get a chance to play a match on it yet but it does look really promising. I’ll let you know my thoughts once I see how it plays.

I would appreciate it if you could take the time to check out my map, Tornado. I have two versions in my file share one for most gametypes and the other is a stripped back MLG competitive version. If you get chance to test it out please leave me a comment in the topic I made here. Thanks.

Keep up the good forging.

Hey i just had a game on your map, seems pretty decent.

I would advise on a few changes though, personally i would add more cover, it’s quite an empty map. I would also try to flatten the floor, as it’s quite bumpy and can be annoying during a firefight.

You could also try adding an invisible ceiling using a trait zone with 200% gravity, which would prevent people from jetpacking onto the roofs.

Nice map though

Thanks for giving it a try out. The map has a safe zone which doesn’t go up as high as the roof so no jet packing on top is allowed. As for the floor I hadn’t noticed any bumpy areas myself I will double check this later. I know the roofs of the corridor pieces are pretty bumpy with all the widows etc but I kinda ran out of resources to smooth all of them. As for cover I havnt had much play testing so I havnt noticed any lack of cover, inside the bases and at the back of each base there is plenty of cover and in the centre and on top there is less cover to make acquiring the power weapons more challenging. You can however use the sloped sides of all the corridor pieces as cover in a pinch.

Thanks again for giving it a go and I’ll be looking into the points you mentioned.

Yeah i wish we were allowed more walls and blocks in stead of 100 inclines lol.

Yeah i noticed the soft kill zone on the roofs but if you land on the roof you can still walk on it, tried and tested so i’m 100% sure about this. I had the same problem on my map that’s why i opted for an invisible ceiling instead.

The guys above sound like they are the same person using a two accounts to boost his map. Just sayin

I can assure you we are not the same person I don’t think we would be discussing flaws in the map if we were.

I’ll double check the walking on the ceiling thing I thought the safe zone would be enough. I can’t put an invisible ceiling in as it could affect the man cannons that launch to top mid but I’ll just stick soft kill barriers in if I have to.

Edit: I found the problem. The two base ceilings were not exactly the same height by about half a spartan. The safe area was set below one of the ceilings and extended above the other. I’ve corrected the ceiling heights and safe zone height and tested to make sure no pesky jet packers can thrive on top of my map.

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention now if only we could have limitless building blocks I may be able to smooth off more of the bumpy areas.

It’s worrying that that’s the first thought that popped into your head. Do you do this?

Anyway back on topic, anyone else up for downloading this and giving it a go?

Wow this map looks sick. Amazing for your first map! I’m going to download it and see how it plays. Looks like it deserves more recognition. Looks like some high quality forging. If you haven’t found forgehub yet I suggest you go on that site and post your map there. You have a future in map making for sure!

Looks pretty cool

Map looks sweet! I will have to give it a go with my friends:D We do a lot of warm ups pre game.

Thanks guys, feel free to give some feedback (negative feedback also) and i can look into the problems or try and improve the map.
