My First-Day Thoughts

G’Day Spartans, and 343 if you’re reading these posts. So draws the end of my first day playing Halo Infinite’s multiplayer. What a blast! The gameplay, sound, music, and visuals (even on low settings!) are all brilliant! This game has certainly stuck the landing and proven the naysayers wrong. Needless to say, I’m enjoying the game so far.

But alas, as with a “Beta” as this release of the game is being called, there is plenty of room for feedback. This isn’t a negative response, don’t get me wrong. These are the things I simply think could use review or rework.

  • Not very many game modes. I believe it’s been stated that the Beta only contains the core modes with more coming on launch. No biggie.
  • Progression. The current system is, for lack of a better term, stinky. The community wants to see per-match XP.
  • Optimization. I feel as though there is still some work to be done with PC Performance Optimizing. My Ryzen 5800X and RX 5700XT only granted me ~90FPS on Low Preset. Not unplayable by any means, but could be improved.
  • Netcode. I find that I trade melees quite often, or occasionally, my melee hits just straight up don’t register.

Anyone else agree?

there is no more content beyond the campaign at launch, what you see is what we’re getting as far as multiplayer goes.

Quote from the most recent blog:

" Why is this release a beta? Our previous Multiplayer Technical Previews went a long way to battle-testing our services and infrastructure. But as we prepare for a significant increase in the number of players jumping into Halo Infinite on launch day, December 8th, we want to ensure all our systems are good-to-go. While you may experience some bumps and bugs during this beta period, it does mark the official start of Halo Infinite Season 1, with all day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass. This means all the Battle Pass and customization items you earn or purchase during the beta will stay with you after December 8th."
