So I played the Beta a bit today, for the first time. I suck really really bad so far, but that’s my problem. Overall, I have a few things to say about my experience with the Beta.
Like:
-Spartan Abilities work just fine. They are a big addition, but they aren’t intrusive enough to make the game not feel like Halo. They are interesting and fun.
-That Lightrifle smart scope… Wow!
-The graphics in general are great, and I expect them to be even more polished in the final game.
-The maps are neat, and I like the idea of remixes- assuming of course that this means we get a large amount of maps at launch, not that we get the regular 12 with only half of them being truly unique. If we get 20 maps with say 6-8 of them remixes and 3-4 forge maps, that would be amazing.
-Breakout is great, really.
Don’t like:
-Constant black fade outs when you die/respawn and especially around Killcams really hurt the experience
-Crashes and server issues to be expected from a Beta
-Really really really short kill times. If something about this game feels non Haloy it’s the fact that you kill and die super quickly.
-BR starts. I was never a fan. The BR is a jack of all trades and as such does not motivate you to pick up weapons from the map, which makes it all a one gun game. It’s also not a good combination with the short kill times.
