I like it. It looks like a mix of digital and … is that color pencil?
It reminds me of when Chief first landed on the ring in Combat Evolved … which is exactly what 343 was going for when he wrecks on Requiem as well, to bring back the awe & mystery of Forerunner architecture that we had all but gotten used to over the series. I think you did a good job of capturing that.
The Ark in Halo 3 should have had that feel; that “what the hell is this place?” feeling we all got in Combat Evolved, but it didn’t. Somehow Halo 4 brought back that same sense of wonderment.
In mission 2 of the campaign, once you clear the wreckage and walk out into that opening with the floating spires that just go up and up, and that giant metal ceiling that’s just floating above the clouds, it makes you feel small … which is odd because you’re the 7’2" Master Chief, the walking tank … which I feel you captured by having Chief be this lone small figure at the bottom of a very vertical picture.
And your painting does the opposite of what the player does: the top where you have Infinity is what grabs the eye, and the waterfall leads you down to Chief, making him seem even smaller & more insignificant in this vast alien world.
