My Faith in 343 Industries Is Gradually Returning

I am writing this to give credit where credit’s due. Thank you 343i for fixing a lot of the problems with server selection in Europe, every single game that I play no matter what playlist; is reasonably lag-free with the exception of occasional random lag spikes… however I’m sure this is a problem everyone faces no matter what country you’re playing from, nevertheless this is a far better experience than I had a couple of months ago and for that I take my hypothetical hat off to you all.

I hope what I say next doesn’t take away from the credit that I’m trying to give however I do feel that this needs to be said. During the 4 months that the Dedicated Servers EU thread was active, myself and many other ‘regulars’ spent a lot of our personal time trying to block US servers through various means with no luck we would then tweet various members of your staff constantly about the problems, we would always write posts on the thread everyday to show that we were loyal to the cause however we weren’t given much hope and a lot of the EU community quit Halo for other less laggy games and I believe this wouldn’t have happened if 343i publicly acknowledged the problem and stated that a fix was coming.

When my team and I qualified for HCS finals in London, I used my time to speak to 343i in person about these issues, I also explained the problems in great detail to Strongside and Walshy, a server tech from 343i took a note of my gamertag and stated he would look into what servers I was connecting to. (He had a beard but can’t remember his name)

My point is, if the issues were addressed quicker the EU fanbase would have a much greater population … if a fix at the time was not possible then in my opinion 343i should have publicly acknowledged the issue and said that a fix was being worked on this would have appeased the EU community and stopped panic ensuing.

Thank you, I do appreciate the effort that has went into overhauling the matchmaking in this game and I hope these feelings continue long into the future.

Wow thats true appreciation. 343 has done alot of good.

Hey, that’s good. Had no idea that the EU servers were fixed but that’s good. More people to play with!

I’m enjoying Grifball so much, can’t wait for wz firefight, just got my Decimator helmet today. I’m happy.

It’s lag free 99% of the time for me compared to before when every game was laggy it’s a massive improvement!

glad to see that the servers are working fine for you.
But please don´t expect it´s for all of us. Myself and a lot of my friends have still the same issues and didn´t noticed that it worked better.

Nice post and I fully agree. Although I’ve only been playing H5 since mid January so didn’t suffer US 200 ping host for too long, since the EU server update at the beginning of February I actually look forward to playing this game instead of utterly dreading it like before. I also feel more optimistic about H6 now, whereas a few weeks ago I was about to give up on this game/company entirely. Cheers.

The only thing I have faith in 343i for is their dedication to earning $$$s from REQ packs.
