"My enjoyment of Halo 4 is better than yours"

Is all I ever see on these forums.

People on every single spot on this forum act like the game has to be exactly the way they want it or it will fail.

The game undeniably has many, many faults and I dislike the gameplay as much as many of you guys. But at the same time, making this game one way or the other is literally the worst thing you could possibly do.

We need to work toghether on this. People always say “If you want Halo 3 styled gaming go play Halo 3.” Which is frankly one of the more annoying statements I read on a daily basis, second only to “You complain because you can’t adapt.”

Guys, we have to stop that. We are all members of this community, and constantly fighting against eachother will get us absolutely nowhere.

Competitive players, I know many of you dislike many of Halo 4’s attributes. However, there are people who do enjoy these things. Taking their enjoyment away is not fair and only leaves them in the same possition we are in now. Rather than saying “Get rid of this and get rid of that”, we need to say “Hey, many of us are not particularly pleased with certain aspects of the game. Those aspects wouldn’t be a problem if we had ways to get away from them, but we don’t. 343i, classic and competitive players need more, non-infinity playlists to play.”

This way, we are not changing the game on those who enjoy Infinty Slayer styled settings, but we are also getting part of what we want.

At the same time, it would be as simple as adding “Pro” and “Classic” settings and options to every playlist in the game. So we have the option of “Infinty CTF, Pro CTF, ClassicCTF”.

These solutions are what we should be working for, not stripping away settings other people may enjoy.

Players who enjoy the changes, you can’t just tell us to leave. You can’t just say “Oh you can’t adapt so you shouldn’t play.” We bought the game alongside you, and we are part of the same community. It isn’t fair to those of us who do not enjoy this new style of play to simply be unable to enjoy the latest installation of a series many of us have played for so long. Rather than essentially saying “Get lost” you should be accomodating. The game should be fun for everyone, not just the new and not just the old.

Now I know a lot of people are going to reply “stop putting words in my mouth” and I assure you that is not what I’m trying to do. Not everyone has the same mindset I have given for the two scenarios, and I respect that. I am simply posting what I see a vast majority of the time on the forums.

This is getting to the point of ridiculousness, where one person asks the other persons game to be scrapped because they don’t like that persons game.

We should be working toghether as a community and going for what is in everyones best interest, not fighting eachother constantly.

Okay, this was a longwinded post that’s probably confusing because it’s almost midnight where I live, but I just really wanted to get it out there that fighting amongst eachother to grow your enjoyment of the game at somebody elses expense is not the way to go.

TL;DR: As a community we need to work toghether to make this game fun for everyone, not act like our way is the only way.

If you read this far, thanks guys (and gals).

As with your post in the other thread, Thank you.

The community as a whole needs to give 343 common ground to work with, something that can please both extreme ends of the spectrum.

With both sides arguing left and right with one another, 343 has no idea what, and where to begin, which can lead to wrong decisions.

Will this community ever find the peace that some of use hope for? I would like to hope so, but… I wont hold my breath.

The solution is so simple. Ranked and social. Thats its. It doesnt take a genius to realize some people like to play for fun and others for blood. Why cant we have the competitive playlists without all the randomness and then a social hopper with h4 default settings? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

My favorite one is when ppl tell me to Adapt… Been adapting long enough, so if I don’t feel like adapting to that play style… I will be adapting to a different game.

Nice thread OP.

As much as i agree with you, Im afraid that no matter how well thought out, or calmly written a post on these forums will be, someone, somewhere will find fault and say something to cause an uproar. I dont know what happened to make everyone so bloodthirsty, but im fairly certain that the fact that 343 is related to Halo now and not Bungie is something that people cant seem to let go.

Halo should have stayed an Arena FPS.

It went the same direction as almost every other shooter these days.

weakness…

Finally a wise person. I support you, OP.

I like your view OP, I respect that.
I’m going to be honest though, I really feel like the “competitive” part of the halo community is really negative towards the other half who just purely enjoy the game like me. I hope the competitive and complaining part of the community just takes the time to read this, and finally realize how their actions are affecting us all.

There is no adapting to ordinance drops. You never know when you my get killed by some crazy power weapon randomly and instantly.

The problem is that 343 does try to accomidate both sides. But Usually no matter what they do it isn’t enough. People will believe without a doubt that briging back what we used to have will be fun enough for them to last till the next halo.

And its already been proven with classic reach playlist that didn’t work. I’m not saying one side is better then the other. or that one play style is better then the other. What i’m saying is that we can continue to try to please the competitive crowd but they will never be satisfied.

I would probably have less of a resentment twards that group if people would start to be a bit more apreciative and respectful.

I don’t get it either, everone knows you satisfy multiple needs by having options. I would thnk this post twice if it was possible.

Indeed. I can understand why though.

When Halo 4 launched what playlists did it have? The only Non-Infinity playlist was Slayer Pro.

Even now, the only non-infinty Slayer or Objective playlist is Throwdown. We’re starting to move in the right direction with Pro settings in most gametypes, but infinty still outnumbers Competitive 2-1.

Should we be hostile? No, of course not. But I can understand why so many people are starting to get upset. Many have nothing to play (Many do not like the competitive nature of Throwdown, as it’s almost the equivelant of MLG as opposed to classic) a large amount of the time, so I think we start to get annoyed and critcise the aspects of the gametypes we are forced to play without taking into account that some people like those things.

> The problem is that 343 does try to accomidate both sides. But Usually no matter what they do it isn’t enough. People will believe without a doubt that briging back what we used to have will be fun enough for them to last till the next halo.

Out of curiosity, why not give it to them then? Not the entire game of course, but just a couple of playlists. If that is the game they want to play, then why shouldn’t they be able to play it? And while you say 343i does try to accomadate both sides, I look at the playlists and see 1 competitive playlist (which many of the Classic players don’t like as far as I have seen) and a couple of playlists with the “pro” settings (but still use ordinance drops and loadouts).

It doesn’t look to me like the Classic players have gotten anything out of this, and the Competitive players have what I would consider the bare minimum when compared to the playlists with Infinity Slayer styled settings.

The classic playlist in Reach wasn’t Halo 3 styled gameplay though (which is what a lot of “classic” fans have been looking for as far as I have seen on the forums.) it was Halo CE gameplay. There’s nothing saying a Halo 3 styled playlist in Halo 4 wouldn’t work.

As for that bit about never being satisfied, honestly, I’d be satisfied with Ranked and Social styled seperation. With “Ranked” being competitive and classic, and “Social” being the infinity gametypes and stuff like action sack.

Heck, they don’t even need to be seperated, just equal consideration for the two large groups of the game would be nice.

> I would probably have less of a resentment twards that group if people would start to be a bit more apreciative and respectful.

This I can understand. The competitive group (not all of them are rude) need to tone it down a bit, especially on the forums.

I’ve been guilty of the kind of behaviour OP is talking about and I have to admit, recently I’ve realised how much of a -Yoink- that makes me. Nobody has the right to tell you the way you enjoy Halo is wrong. I shall never use the word “adapt” again, I promise!

Good post OP. More playlists to accommodate player requests would be good. However, we have SO many playlists now that it’s watered down the individual playlist populations.

I’d like to see Extraction and CTF rolled into Team Objective. Team Slayer could include Team Regicide and Snipers.

So I think some consolidation of the current playlists is needed to allow for Rank/Social playlists as well as base settings and Infinity settings. Doing that would allow everyone to have a playlist to go to that they would enjoy.

Oh hey, Mr Tomsk! Glad to see you here buddy!

This is true. I’d definitely prefer to see oddball extraction and CTF rolled into one playlist. I know a lot of people might be opposed to that, but the population is really low right now, so there needs to putting playlists toghether would be a good plan.

I disagree with putting snipers in Team Slayer, but putting Team Regicide in Team slayer would be a good idea.

Indeed!
