My Current Halo Infinite Thoughts

Alright, so I’ve finally been able to play the game. After sinking a couple of hours into it these are my thoughts. (PC)

Pros/Likes

  • I really like the gunplay. It feels satisfying to me. Some may not like them, but I love the hitmarkers. I like to be able to know I’m hitting things.
  • The sound design. I like most of the gun sounds, especially the BR sound and Sniper. To me this is the most realistic sniper sound, it just has so much impact. I also love the shield recharge sound.
  • I’m really liking the needler in this game. It just feels nice to use. I’m also quite fond of the Commando so far.
  • I also like that the BR and Commando won’t both be in the match at the same time, because if they were I feel it’d get redundant.
  • This is small, but I like the way the guns are just in a case on the wall. It just looks neat and clean to me.
  • So far I think the bots are pretty realistic to the difficulty they are supposed to be. I think they work well.

Cons/Dislikes

  • The game isn’t the smoothest on PC. The PC I’m playing it on isn’t the greatest, but it can run more intense games better. Now I know this is a flight and optimization probably isn’t complete so I don’t fault it too much.
  • The sprint just feels weird to me. Despite the fact that I’m running, it just feels slow(?) I’m not sure what’s up with it.
  • The respawn timer seems kind of high at 8 seconds. I don’t know if that’s final either or just for now but I miss being able to skip the timer. (Or if not that at least make it shorter).
  • I’m not really feeling the pulse carbine so much. Maybe I’m just bad with it and haven’t used it enough but I’d pick many other weapons over it anytime.
  • This is also small but I feel like there should be a separate tab or something to change the key bindings because I have to scroll down so far just to find them.

I’m not sure how I feel about it but I feel like the melee range is huge. Does anyone else think that or is it just me? I don’t know if it’s a bad or a good thing tbh.
I also don’t know how I feel about the personal AI thing. It’s funny sometimes but also annoying sometimes. I need more time with it to see how I feel.

Edit: I just got a game where both the Commando and the BR were on the map. It was a recharge game. This is the first time it happened so maybe it was a bug or maybe they never intended for that to be impossible anyway. Regardless I don’t think it was as redundant as I thought it would be.

Thanks for reading

Bots feel too dumb imo. Matches so far have been one sides. usually winning by 30 plus kills. Hopefully the spartan difficulty will fix this.
Sprint only increases your speed by 2% which i find great but i never liked sprint in halo

Im sure the AI will have an option to disable it in the final game

I have yet to try it, but it’s looking good.

Yes, the run time looks sort of slow. While it looks like H5 (I don’t know about feel yet), the game play was fluid there. Infinite makes sprint seem likes it’s there for sliding.
The hitmarkers are eh, but the scoreboard being right in the middle seems a tad annoying.

I mean I definitely can’t disagree, the bots are kinda dumb. But they are only odst and marine level, they aren’t meant to be amazing anyway. Though I do have an issue with the fact that they all run the exact same way at the beginning of a match every time.
