My confusion with this communty's Obsession.

Hey, all.
Just another short thread, once again, to vent out all of my confusion and rage.

“The DMR Sucks -Yoink-. I want the BR back in Halo 4!”

This. This is just it. This is all that this thread is about.

WHY!?

Why is this so obsessed over?
Now, I realize that canonically-wise, it’s common sense.
But I mean… Just think about it.

JUST BECAUSE THE DMR ACTS A CERTAIN WAY IN REACH, THAT DOESN’T MEAN (IF, AND ONLY IF.) THAT IT WOULD ACT THE SAME IN HALO 4.

Remember the Halo CE pistol? Yeah. Of course you do.
Remember the Halo 2 pistol? You must have, as everyone here obsesses over that (Halo 2), too.

NOTICE: They act COMPLETELY different.

I Don’t even get why the DMR is hated upon!
Seriously, enlighten me, folks.
Why exactly does the DMR suck, and should NOT return to Halo 4, ASIDE from canon reasons?

I dont think it sucks i just prefer the BR

> I dont think it sucks i just prefer the BR

That’s fine. Whatever. But do you care to elaborate upon why, exactly?

DMR-skill
BR-spam

They should just stick with what the proto halo 2 br had, shoot from hip burst fire, zoom in single shot

Yea just solved all your problems right there

THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING FOR AEONS.

I’m pretty sure that the M392 DMR wouldn’t act the same way in Halo 4 because it would be stuck back on the colonies with the Army and Air Force while the BR55HB SR pimps it out across a shield world with John.

Though honestly, canon reasons completely supersedes any further discussion unless the UNSC Land Lubber Command makes an appearance. Otherwise, you’re best off going to the Reach section to see why people want to disown/marry/etc. the '392.

The DMR is forever tainted by bloom.

Besides, it’s just less cooler Carbine. Same with the NR.

I fully realize and consider the canonical facts.
This question is for the people that haven’t read any books nor wandered in any of the “extended” (If you will) universe, and have only played the games.
I also traveled to the depths of the Reach forum, and I could hardly stand there for 5 minutes without becoming baffled by the arguments that go on there.

The pistol in CE isnt the same model as the Halo2 pistol. But I do see your point, I wish people would stop hating and start appreciating what Reach is, not only Reach but Halo as a whole.

AND THE “BURST FROM THE HIP/SINGLE SHOT WHEN ZOOMED” IS WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL THESE YEARS!

If you don’t mind me asking, how so?

Because people don’t think.

They cling to their favorites, their preferences and their nostalgia, disregarding even a potentially better aspect of something because they don’t like it or whatever other reason (H3 was more popular so we should bring back the BR because H3 had the BR) they can think of.

It’s applied to not just the BR but pretty much anything and everything.

I personally just enjoy using the single shot weapons more. That’s why I prefer the DMR but honestly, I’d like to see them make a new UNSC gun that fills the niche. I really hope the Carbine comes back though, all time favourite weapon.

Of course not! I suppose I wasn’t too clear.

It’s just a negative connotation associated with the weapon and game mechanics.

Bloom as we all know got a mixed reception, and the DMR is the utility weapon of said game with bloom.

You can’t spam a weapon that has a set fire rate and no bloom.

With the way the default bloom in Reach works, the DMR is not skillful, it is random.

Actually spam to DMR as is spray to automatics. They serve the same purpose, getting out as much bullets as you can in order to get a lucky kill rather then skillfully aiming. It hurts much harder on games like CoD where one bullet to the head is an instant win. You pretty much can’t do this with Halo because of shields. Once they’re gone you can.

Ignoring bloom, cannon etc, I prefer the BR because of its unique 3-shot burst in gameplay, every other precision weapon is a generic semi-auto single shot weapon. The BR adds more variety in terms of its burst style!

Yes, It works very well with Halos shooting mechanics as well. People love the BR(myself included) because it works perfectly with Halos shooting mechanics making the player track the enemy with the reticle to land the burst which is what you do with every non-power weapon in Halo tracking the enemy with the reticle while firing until he dies. The 4sk is also perfect in Halo in a 4v4 setting as it fits evenly in with the teamshot aspect of Halo with two people firing at one enemy killing him with 2 shots each, and 4 people firing at one enemy killing him instantly in perfect sync. That and the BR has a really cool noise when it fires =)

Me personally I would like something like the H2 BR in H4 complimented with single-shot pistols and maybe even a mid-long range precision weapon that is not the sniper but could beat the BR if used accurately.

Back in the day, a gathering of people despised the BR for its spread. Now they despise the DMR for its bloom and praise the BR.

Will they despise whatever mid/long range weapon Halo 4 brings us, and praise the DMR? Time will tell.

> I dont think it sucks i just prefer the BR

I prefer the BR mainly because of its 3-shot bursts. It makes it unique, and fun to shoot.

Also, ‘communty’ sounds like some exotic swear word. “Come get some, ya communties!”
