Hello all,
Long time Halo player here. (Xbox 1 on XBC old)
To give you an idea of where I stand in all of this, here are my list of halo games I like from best to worst.
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo 1
Halo 5
Halo Reach
Halo 4 (I found -1000 enjoyment playing this game)
-
The AR spawns suck. If this is just for social games, fine who cares. But playing CTF on Bazaar spawning with an AR while getting destroyed by two BRs is not fun, and it will never be fun. You have no chance to win a duel a long range like this, and it’s not fun.
-
The pistol is… weird? It seems very inconsistent. It does way too little damage, and at medium to long range (to offset the AR spawn…), it does no damage. I get it’s a “Side Arm” but I need an answer to power weapons, and this is not it. In halo 5, landing the 5 shots and get the perfect metal, felt good. It seems to almost never happen in this game. I am not sure if it’s the “Bloom” that is causing it, but it’s not fun to use at all.
-
Why are Spartans whatever color they want in team games? I sometimes hesitate to shoot people because they look like they are on my team. (especially in up close melee combat, or trying to cap a control point)
-
The Bulldog sounds awesome, but it does too little damage. I am not sure if this will end up being the shotgun replacement, or not. But if so, it should be able to do more damage point blank than it does.
-
Dropped frags glow yellow. I am not sure why they do this, in other halos this meant the grenade was live and you need to -Yoink-. This can be confusing at times.
-
The scoreboard should only come up while holding down the key/button. Sometimes I watch to see who is a live to help my team plan our next move (pull the flag, throw the odd ball off the map, etc). But now, once I spawn, the scoreboard is still open and it’s annoying. Please make this a toggle.
-
Sliding feels super clunky, I assume this will be fixed before release.
-
Ravager seems to have no chance to kill people, only break shields. Seems like the fully charged “Burn” should be able to kill someone, not just control an area.
-
On PC, switching weapons with the scroll wheel is a nightmare. It’s super sensitive, and I always get stuck with the same weapon I started with, resulting in death.
-
The TTK in general seem a TAD too fast.
-
I don’t even understand the pulse carbine.
-
You should be able to get to “Customize” while searching games.
-
The warthog seems a tad light, and get’s too much air.
That all being said, I do enjoy the game, and these are just some things I think should be looked at.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Yes I agree with your point #3 regarding the outlines. I heard 343 Industries is addressing that in the final build. There are about a hundred different threads here regarding a toggle for the colors/outlines since Flight # 2 began a few days ago. I started a thread about this earlier if you feel like checking it out and leaving a comment so this request of ours can receive maximum exposure for 343 Industries.

The pistol seemed off to me too. The pulse carbine i actually enjoyed
To to ur first I would like to ask. Why shouldn’t u get beaten in a long range fight against a br. There are plenty of routes to avoid the br and get closer maybe not jumping into the middle of the map off spawn would help, if that’s what ur doin. I never had this issue the entire flight. The br seemed underpowered to me

The question is, why should I have no response to being spawn killed by BRs? I am not talking low level play. As a competitive player, people in my ELO will know spawns or force them.

I never once experienced this problem, and the respawn locations on the maps we played (except behemoth) simply should not have that issue. Most respawn locations exist in fairly closed off areas, and so the pistol gives you all the range you need.
The only time fighting a BR became a problem for me was on Bazaar or Recharge, when trying to fight for mid control. In those open spaces, BR had the edge (as it should).
What’s the problem here?
I kind of agree on most of this. I was playing Training for an hour and just couldn’t stop… but only because I set the Primary to BR, however it’s easier cause bots start with ARs/Sidekick still. I think the reason BR is more enjoyable is because its rate of fire is right. Then, add in the occasional spam-shooter like the Commando, all is good.
I have a feeling people will get bored of constantly spamming their Sidekick, so much that they will start using the AR, hilariously.
Funny enough, I also get confused sometimes with who my teammate or enemy is. Prior games you could recognize the enemy with the red reticule and aim magnetism along with the team colors. I’m not so sure the outline “helps”
From my understanding, the pulse carbine is like a mix of the plasma rifle and the carbine. It kills just like the BR but with slower bullet speed I guess.

Spam Commando? Commando takes more skill than the BR. Same with Sidekick, the weapon has a rhythm because of bloom. People never got tired of the Pistol in 5 and from the matches I played in the test more people had their Sidekicks out than their ARs.

High rate of fire means you spam your trigger fast. I didn’t say anything about skill, but spamming does mean you don’t get penalized as much for missed shots.
