Catering to the massive COD population with things such as
1.Universal sprint
2.Grenade indicators
3.Killcams
4.Hit markers
5.Ordnance drops(killstreaks)
6.Instant respawn
7.Separation of playlists
8.Capture the flag(shooting, marker on your head)
9.Spartan Ops(Spec Ops)
10.Perks
11.Not being able to pick up grenades of the dead by default
12.Little to no weapons on the map
13.Editable classes
14.Flinch replacing un-zooming
All and all it does add up to changing halo into something it really shouldn’t be. I don’t have a problem with all these additions, just most.(But its still halo at heart)
Remember when games like Call of Duty took ideas from Halo? Like regenerating health and quick throwing grenades. Bungie did it right the target was gamer was everyone that enjoyed a shooter because if its good enough the people will come. Now that Halo is taking ideas and mechanics from COD maybe halo will get better and enjoy the success that COD has. However I don’t believe that will be the case. I think the COD people will play COD leaving the Halo fans with a game that is confused with what it wants to be.
Halo did need to change, change is good… if it is smart change. Gameplay changes like not being un-zoomed when shot or universal sprint are some examples of what change should be like. Adding killcams , removing assault, changing CTF with no option to play original are some things that have me puzzled. Who asked for kill cams? who wanted assault gone? Why are custom game options gutted? These things need to change or plenty of people will quit playing Halo. What I would want instead of killcams is a way to watch clips with friends. The new CTF is ok, but I and plenty others in community want to also play the old way. It feels like 343 went off the COD model that is focused on matchmaking and leveling up, rather than a good time in customs and forge.
I will continue to play Halo 4 for a while, but i know the game is going to at least lose 20% if not more of the hardcore halo fans(Reach lost much more). Not to mention a lot of the COD people will go and play COD. I believe if 343 listens to the community Halo 4 can be the best halo, but 343 needs to make some minor and major changes that I am sure can be accomplished using an update. So please 343 listen to us!
Halo 4 is a great game, it’s just doesn’t feel like a Halo game.
Halo 2 was my first introduction to halo as well. It had a great community, back in the good old days when insults like “try hard” didnt exist. Most of my time was spent in custom games as well, one of the things Bungie and 343 I guess didnt know is people spent many hours playing with glitches, getting out of the maps and other miscellaneous fun stuff that died with reach. Halo is best when it actually is a sandbox with plenty of options. Unfortunately for us we dont have many of the options we should… but they can be added. PLEASE 343!

My thread does clearly state my complaints, not my fixes. I couldn’t care less about what you think about them if you don’t want to discuss the topic with me. You did say it was too long and you didn’t read so how do you know if it was whiny or not. I am just expressing my personal feelings about one of my favorite game series.

I’ve never be an “active member” of the forum neither on the bungie one, but I play Halo from more than 10 year and I always enjoied the game.
I agree with the opinion of the poster and IMHO I can say that’s good complain something if it’s a constructive feedback.
But the game it’s already out and how I hope that the most of the people can understand that many of the mechanics cannot be changed, but at least reviewing the game list could be possible, so discussing on it to propose something to the developerd/distributors it’s a good idea.

plz remove the nade marker cause that thing make the promethean nades quite useless IMHO

Lol we can understand you. Many of my problems with halo 4 are things like grenade indicators, they don’t feel right in halo and now you can always just sprint away Or the killcam because when you die you can give your team more info (and tea bagging isnt as much fun)instead of watching some buggy video of you getting killef. Bungie said taking bloom out of Reach would be impossible and 343 made it happen so i think they can do some things to the mechanics of the game. I know CTF would be possible to change, they wouldnt have to do much but edit the traits of the flag bearer to have no ammo and target about his head. I really do like Halo 4, I just think it would be better off with some changes.
