I feel like 343 has catered WAY too much towards PC/Keyboard and mouse players in terms of the bullet magnetism, reticle size, and aim assist. It seems like they removed the aim assist and bullet mag and made the reticles tiny so its not too easy for keyboard/mouse players. But it makes it so much harder for Xbox players to get kills.
Every single gun has a smaller reticle than all previous halo games. Example: BR and AR have pretty much the same reticle shape as previous halo games, but they look almost half the size. And no - it’s not because of a high FOV, they are a lot smaller even at the default FOV of 78 or w/e. The commando (comparable to the DMR) has a pinhead reticle that while I understand the reasoning for a smaller reticle for this gun in particular - to not make it overpowered and too easy to kill - is still way to small in my opinion and needs to be a little larger. You can always up the bloom to compensate increasing reticle size if it’s too advantageous.
You mix the small reticle size with what feels like ZERO bullet magnetism and aim assist on console and the firefights (ESPECIALLY in close range) feels absolutely horrible with aiming. Melee’ing up close feels like **** too, sometimes someone lunges at you like they have a sword and sometimes the melee feels like Halo CE where there is no lunge at all. And I’m not sure how it works on the technical side, in terms of if PC/Xbox players get different settings as far as aim assist/magnetism ect. or if they are the exact same. But I feel like when you make a game crossplay (which I’m fine with) this becomes a giant issue when you try to ‘balance’ the difference between using aiming with a controller and a mouse and keyboard. It ends up favoring the PC side heavily because keyboard mouse people are already at an advantage to begin with.
The aiming feels horrible, probably the worse out of any halo game i’ve played, but the gameplay/graphics/sandbox ect. all are amazing, so I really hope they address this because it’s a huge handicap for playing on xbox. When in my opinion, no matter how big PC gaming is - if you’re going to cater to anyone it should be console players since Halo has always been a console game first. Please spare the “i tHinK iTs jUsT yOu” comments if you were going to say that because this is actually a big problem. Maybe it does not affect you personally reading this, but there are many people who share this opinion with me and are experiencing this. I have tried messing with the million different types of deadzone perimeters and sensitivity and nothing fixes the aiming problem i’ve experienced. I realize some of the halo’s like H3 and H5 you could say had too much bullet magnetism/aim assist, but it feels they removed too much for infinite, there should be some middle ground.
Other issues - SOME of the weapon sound design is not good - needler needs louder super combine, hammer sounds like the stupid halo 5 hammer sound and not an actual gravity hammer, bulldog/rocket launcher sound like the same gun - overly compressed thud sound. And this could just be the beta servers or w/e but I’m getting a massive frame rate drop every matchmaking game playing on newest xbox one S, making most games feel like I am playing under a strobe light. If you agree/disagree please comment or like so this gets attention and can hopefully be addressed
