its -Yoinking!- terrible… like really -Yoinking!- terrible. the original halo wars is probably one of my most played online games of all time (over 15000 online matches played) I am really depressed now. -Yoink- my life… seriously though im just really bummed. I need a drink to wash away the pain from years of hype.
all they needed to do was to add on from the fiirst game and i would’ve been happy. but no they decided to make this clunky garbage.
quick thoughts on whats wrong with it
huge delay selecting anything (beta issue)
clunky as hell (beta issue)
the only mode is domination. why isn’t there a simple war gametype? you know like build a army and destroy the enemy team. not this -Yoink- around with points -Yoink-. (beta limitation
it doesn’t look like or sound like the original halo wars. its hard to distinguish players from environments and buildings. the color palette is god awful
plays more like a supreme commander game
plays really fast and doesn’t replicate the slow pace epic battles of the first.(5 minute matches)
units are hard to command and nothing feels snappy.
AI is worse then the first game
no control in battles. your units sort of wing it when you command them
cant scroll fast
its not compelling or intense.
faster gameplay but commanding is a lot slower
generator point system is stupid
map lack any depth
doesnt feel like it should be played with a controller.
i have a lot more issues with this game. i had a lot of faith in creative assemble and 343 to make a respectable sequel to a game that now has a cult following. thousands of people still play well into 2016. it appears the developers don’t care about the halo wars fan base and made a game that doesnt try to appeal to the fans of the first game.
if this game isnt scrapped now then it will be a massive flop and end up killing any interest in another halo wars game.
im thinking of starting a petition to scrap this abomination

But you said your scroll is slow.
Okay fair enough, how would you go about making a Halo Wars sequel? I don’t see many suggestions, explanations or the like in the OP. I have a hard time understanding what you want done, I imagine the dwvelopers would have similar issues.

I think many of us wanted and expected for them use all good things of halo wars 1 which was most of it and then add things like:
units
races
leader abillities
maps
replays
observer mode
FFAThings which actually improve the game, instead they went out and removed most of what made HW fun
Creative Assembly is not Ensemble. Of course they are going to put their own spin on it.
They are definitely going out on a limb with these changes, but I’m not so sure that they are all bad. There are certainly areas that need polish and others that - maybe- don’t work so well, but my early impressions are that this could be a good console RTS when it’s finished. I certainly don’t see the steaming turd that others are claiming to see.

For the last damn time. It’s a beta. A small taste of the full game. Odds are all of that will be in the full game.

I know you try to, but I still can’t get anything what you want from the old game because I honestly do not see that much of a difference between HW1 and 2 in terms of gameplay. Leader abilities have changed to another system sure.
What exactly is missing from HW1 that made it so fun?
