I think they were a good idea, but Bungie implement it wrong, and made it broken.
I would like to see a sort of AA’s in Halo 4, but not make it so they give you a huge advantage. The AA’s can help with your fighting style, and not one dominates or makes it so it can be spammed and used cheaply.
An example is Jet Pack, and sprint.
It is a perfect AA, for it doesn’t give you combat advantages but helps shape how you kill.
The problem with Armour lock is that it can be spammed and has way too many advantages. I would like to see this back, but make it one-time use and not completely invincible, almost like a oversheild but more powerful. Also you should be able to walk around, and maybe shoot. Though it will be able to break through with, lets say 2 plasma grenades.
The other AA’s aren’t that bad, but it would be better if they were tweaked and had a huge choice of AA’s.
Another point is that MC isn’t a Spartan III. But he could implement forerunner technology to equip MC with AA’s.
I know some of you will hate the idea, but just give it a thought.
I say lets just bring back equipment and leave it at that.
I found equipment in Halo 3 a lot less frustrating and more fun then AA’s in Reach.
And I’d rather not be frustrated playing Halo 4.
I’m all for new things being introduced, but I hope AA’s stay out of this one.
Plus I’m sick of hearing the Halo community complain about AA’s.

if they make it like Starsiege: Tribes, it could be great
I really think that AAs made Reach kind of unbalanced. One person would have a jetpack and you would have armor lock.Once the jetpacking guy opened fire at you, you could either duck for cover or use armor lock. the guy would land to wait for you to overcharge, and assassinate you after you used it up.
It was like rock paper scissors, you didn’t know everyone’s abilities.Sprint was fine i guess.that was the only one i liked.they should either, use h3 equipment, scrap the entire abilty system,or make something similar but new that everyone likes and makes the battlefield balanced.
You have a year 343.Show us what you can do.for the better.
I think the main problem with how Armor Abilities were used was that everyone could be starting out with completely different abilities and broke the old Halo gameplay rule of everyone starts out the same. Some players were able to fly, others run fast, some could go invisible, etc. This lead to situations to where if a player was killed by someone with a different ability, they became frustrated and in someway believe that they chose the wrong ability. They could then choose a new one but be killed by someone else with a different ability, and the cycle continues.
For “Armor Abilities” to work in later installments I believe it needs to get back to the Halo gameplay rule of everyone starts the same. I think a good example of Reach AAs that would be a permanent gameplay mechanic are Sprint and Evade. Instead of choosing between the individual AAs, a player would already have access to them. The current AA button could be used to activate sprint while moving forward, and evade when strafing and moving backwards.
And depending on how the new boosters work, they could function as a sort of jetpack. If they could be used as a double jump type of ability, or even possibly used to quickly cover large gaps. However, I don’t feel that the Reach jetpack mechanic should return. As many have said, it breaks map control and can gives some players an unfair advantage.
