My Arguments on why Sprint should not be in Halo

Introduction:

Sprint fundamentally disrupts the Halo Formula and must be removed if Halo is to establish its own identity and feel like Halo again. Ideally sprint needs to be removed, but if it needs to be a compromise then have a speed boost as a powerup pickup or worse case go back to the limited sprint in Halo Reach.
The problem with 343 is that they keep trying to jump on bandwagons, first with Halo 4’s custom class system/kill streak rewards, and Halo 5 with the advanced mobility. This does not attract many new players, if anything it will just piss off old players, and those who like that kind of stuff will go play CoD or another game which does it better.

Here are my arguments against Sprint:

  1. It disrupts the “Halo Formula” that was created by Halo 1, 2, and 3.

  2. It stretches out maps, and makes them cater towards sprint, ruins map control, weapon tuning

  3. Leads to a slower base movement speed

Proposed changes to balance after removing Sprint:

  1. Increase base movement speed

  2. Make a speed boost powerup a pickup

  3. Worst case scenario: go back to the limited sprint in Halo Reach

Conclusion:

343 needs to respect Halo’s identity, or at the very least, the opinion of a lot of the community. So far 343 has made Halo 4 and 5, both with Sprint, and both games have sold less than any previous major Halo game, even Halo Reach sold more copies, and it was “controversial”.
