After playing h4 for almost a month, here’s what i have noticed that needs to be addressed…
Infinity Slayer needs less / no personal ordinance and more random map ordinance. Halo used to be about controlling the gear and certain points on the map. Now teams just derp around because the gear comes right to them. (don’t get me wrong, i love the fact that gear is put into random places so teams cannot camp certain spots) I’d like to see a use for the engineer…such as “hey we need to get over here cause the ordinance is comin down soon.”
Plus the “randomness” of ordinance usually winds up with one team getting snipes/incineration cannons/other good -Yoink- while the other gets nades/needles/speed almost every drop.
IMO this would improve the value of teamwork and communication for slayer.
Take the Mantis off of Meltdown in big team slayer. The map was much more fun without it, plus the vehicle itself isn’t very fun to drive.
Nerf the range or increase the charge time of the boltshot. In its current state i’d rather have a boltshot secondary over any of the automatic weapons (AR/storm/suppress) It is by far the strongest secondary (save for the occasional usefulness of the plasma pistol against vehicles, which are only in a few playlists anyways)
SLIGHTLY increase the warthog chain gun damage against players (not vehicles). This would make the plain jane hog actually viable.
Where is my 2 vs 2 playlist?
Maybe put some sort of diminishing return on getting EMPed in a vehicle. Kinda lame when your opponent walks up and boards you because he EMPed your tank 4 times. Perhaps something like 1st time full duration, 2nd half duration, 3rd and beyond immunity. Obviously the DR would reset very quickly but make consecutive blast spamming less viable.
He feels like a reskinned or slightly better Noble 6.
Vehicles suck
Nothing fun about fighting them anymore. Nor is it fun to operate them (it’s a death trap. I always feel insecure). The only vehicle I can tolerate is the Wraith.
Weapons are less fun to use
Honestly, giving the sniper rifle a lot of recoil is more suitable for MP. In the campaign, I just want to snipe the freaking sniper who has no such disadvantage.
Also, while staying scoped in when shot is a nice addition to the campaign, it doesn’t belong in MP.
Exploration is ridiculous
You know the earliest out of map glitch on Requiem? Don’t bother with it. It requires a lot of unnecessarily complex jumping and even if you get on top you have to spend a lot of time memorizing the solid surfaces and the gaps and the hiding spots (on Legendary, you can’t just stick to the edge).
And of course, 90% of a level’s outside is often non-solid.
Legendary is trial and error, memorization all over again
While I have no problem taking my time with encounters, I was hoping for more missions to do flawlessly instead of dying 10+ times on each one…
CE was the only Halo game where I could complete more than 1 level single segment. Because it was balanced.
Halo 4 is just like Halo 2, except it lacks the fun things (like carrying weapons over to the next mission).
Barely any replayability
-no XP from playing campaign
-terminals are accessed through Halo Waypoint
-no skull hunting
-the same returning skulls
-no campaign scoring
-no campaign theater
-no boss battles
-disappearing weapons
-no timed checkpoints which Reach restored
-checkpoints are scarce
-Spartan Ops is mind-numbingly tedious, only engaging on Legendary which is horribly unbalanced
Mantis. It just doesn’t feel needed in multiplayer.
Boltshot.
Exclusive skins locked per account.
Splatters. They just don’t feel right. For some reason, it’s easier to splatter team-mates than it is with enemies, and not because the enemies are actually trying to avoid and kill you, it’s the fact that a simple nudge will kill an ally, and a full boost will only knock off the shields of an enemy.
5.Lack of decent playlists. It feels like they just aren’t efficiently used. Regicide and FFA throwback should be generalized to one “rumble pit” playlist, with FFA slayer. dominion and CTF need to be put into BTB, and be replaced by one objective playlist (as well as KOTH and oddball). Team doubles needs a return, as well as snipers. I would also suggest a dbl xp weekend type playlist.
Team balancing. Why the -Yoink- are games starting with 4 vs 3 or even 2 vs 4?
-Custom games nerfed
-No dedicated servers; there’s still black screens and horrid lag.
-No classic playlist even though 343i stated they would try to cater to as many people as possible, and even hinted at classics.
-Disc locked content. Marketing strikes again.
-Barely any explanation on who the Didact and the Librarian were. Also no explanation as to why we’re fighting Sangheili again. I’ve read the books so I know both of these things, but I doubt anyone who didn’t knows WTH is going on.
-Spartan Ops missions are repetitive, and after more than 10 years the netcode still SUCKS.
We need more 4v4 maps. Haven, Adrift, and Abandon are okay. Solace is way to cluttered with random crap and a giant light in the middle, and Complex 4’s make’s me want to kick babies. Give us a few 2 base syms (Pit/Sanctuary tailor made for H4) and a 4 base asym (lockout/guardian tailor made for H4)
Playlist’s are crap, ranked/social needs to be split. And where is my -Yoink!- team dubs.
Ordnance drops are two frequent and to random. There shouldn’t be cames when one team get’s ICannon, Snipe, Beam Rifle and damage boost, and the other team is stuck with needlers, speedboost, and a sticky gun.
Having movement reset backwards in time 2-3 seconds, sometimes in succession.
Being shot through solid cover.
Sticky grenades passing through vehicles instead of sticking them.
EMPs, weapon shots, and beatdowns not counting.
Near-instantaneous weapon/ vehicle de-spawning.
Favoring players with weak connections.
Repeatedly setting up matches with players far, far away geographically.
Map design for multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired. Most maps are designed for camo-camping and/or wait-n-teamshot.
Vehicles: Possibilities:
Land-based vehicles have the armor of a sheet of paper
Stickies frequently pass through vehicles
Stickies do zero damage to players in ultra-close proximity.
Some maps have horrible vehicle spawn locations to add to one-sidedness.
No search filters for region or connection quality.
Player-spawns can be absolutely horrible, sometimes repeatedly death-spawning players.
Team-balancing in MM is wholly inconsistent: Parties are not matched against parties; randoms often are thrown into a rage-quit team or team that’s hundreds of kills into the negative while the opposing team is all/largely hundreds in the positive.
Boltshot OP and unfair ordnance, I mean, I like the needler but in maps like Ragnarok I prefer a Sniper rifle, and the enemy team just get 2 Binary Rifles, derp. No campaign XP? Really 343i? Really? New maps in Spartan Ops, instant respawn removed and kill cam being broken.
And the worse of all, no dedicated servers. Horrible lag in War Games and Spartan Ops not to mention the black screens.
I have more but those are all campaign mistakes.
enemy beam rifles not being an instant kill in campaign… actually, the legendary campaign being too easy in general, spops is harder, and that has easy respawns!,
no unsc flying vehicle,
no prothean vehicles in general. Makes me feel like the neo-covenant were just there so the player could use NOT unsc vehicles.
There is nothing worse than joining into a game that half the team has quit, and there is just no way to win, or even come close to making fun and enjoyable.
I would rather wait a few extra moments to play a game then to JIP…What and absolutely broken system and idea. Epic Failure.
