My #1 request for Halo 4

Keep in mind that my #1 request can vary from day to day, but always high on the list is more intelligent AI. This may not be a huge issue in H4 if the storyline has Master Chief off on his own all the time, but one of my biggest complaints with Halo games, and Reach in particular, is that the AI isn’t very I.

Don’t give me teammates who splatter me, snipe me, use shotguns 50 yards away from enemies, reveal our position by firing first, can’t figure out how to get in a vehicle right next to them, or stand in front of me as a group so I can’t get a clear shot at enemies when they can’t die, or run out and die immediately if they can die. Don’t use friendlies who are as likely to run toward the enemy as away, or like to run in front of me when I’m shooting at enemies.

Don’t even give me enemies who get stuck in corners.

In general, make the AI, if not intelligent, at least not brain dead, and strive to ensure my teammates don’t make my life harder.

Amen brother, AMEN.

all i feel is take away their grenades and id be happy. id be bashing a grunt and hear frag out only to receive damage or a beautiful rag-doll effect. only to realize that he was aiming at the grunt i just killed. other then that i don’t believe we will encounter alot of marines o a remote planet/shielded instillation that chief would need to worry about

Oh yeah, that too. But I’ve been splattered more that once by Kat. The point is that by and large they seem more of a hindrance than a help.

> i don’t believe we will encounter alot of marines o a remote planet/shielded instillation that chief would need to worry about

I just didn’t want to take any chances. Who knows, we could end up with alien allies on another planet, and if so I don’t want them to be idiots either.

Ally AI is the worst. They can’t drive, they can’t shoot, they can’t even walk sometimes. They really need to do an overhaul on the AI.

Just to be clear, the enemy AI is fine. The ally AI… it makes me laugh.

No. Enemy AI took a turn for the worst in Reach. All they do is stand back and exchange shots with you. We need a more aggressive enemy ala H:CE.

I beg to differ. The enemy AI always comes charging at me to give me a nice punch/kick in the face, though only when it’s the smarter decision for them to do. They won’t come charging at me from 20 meters away, but they won’t sit there shooting at me when I’m 3 meters in front of their face.

Though yes, the ally AI is pretty pathetic at times and really needs some improvements. The ODST AI on the Installation 04 Firefight map are pretty horrible (asides from the ones that come with the Warthog drop).

Ironically, CE’s allied AI do better in the game than Reach’s so-called “smarter” allied AI.

all AI’s have their flaws, but Ally AI’s make me laugh too, but on Legendary… >:(

One thing that really struck me as I was playing CEA (first time, btw) was how tough the Elites were. Man, whatever I wanted them NOT to do… they did it! Being rushed by the Elites in CEA was so scary and so much fun. In Reach, the elites will rush you only after their shields are dropped, and with the DMR (hitscan, scoped, fast fire rate, ridiculously accurate) there’s no challenge to it.

Not to mention the elites in Reach have a ridiculous amount of shields. Ever played LNoS LASO? The last part of the level is borderline impossible. (I used the Pelican gun glitch, heh heh) In CEA, the Zealots had relatively weak shields, but if didn’t you have a power weapon you wet your pants. (Even with a power weapon it was not a sure thing.)

So Reach’s AI was fun, but it held itself back by a combination of too-accurate weapons, too-heavy shields, and a not-as-aggressive AI.

In Halo 4 I would love to see these balanced.

every time I play a new halo game I bet my brother $20 that I can get killed by a marine before he can.

Who won?
