Mute everyone

What part of "mute everyone " does Microsoft and/or 343 not understand?

I don’t care to hear people’s radios, breathing, smack talk, or idiots. So I start a private party (of one), options, and mute everyone. But it appears to have no affect. I’m only playing social and not competitive.

The only way to individually mute someone is to wait for the game to start, figure out who it is, and then go into the roster to do it. This process effectively makes you AFK during gameplay.

Hold the back button then press X during the match.

When you mute everyone in a party, you are only muting members of the party and not anyone in a game. If you start a party and stay in party chat (ie., don’t switch to game chat), you won’t hear anyone.

You can mute people on the loading screen by clicking the right stick. Or, follow VE’s suggestion above for when you are in a match.

Huh clicking on the right stick mutes everyone? Learned something new after 5 years.

Yes indeed! It’s not very prominent, but you’ll see a line at the bottom of the screen that says it. Very handy for when you have someone broadcasting the noise of their fan.

Strange, I never hear anyone, haven’t for years and I thought it was disabled to party chat only as someone stated in another thread I read.

Clicking the right thumb stick doesn’t always work. I’ve turned party chat off on the xbox, click the right thumb stick like it says to do in the lobby to mute everyone, but it seems like the most loud and annoying players never get muted. Then you have to sit through the whole game with loud music or screaming kids drowning out the game sounds.
