So, wow, what a solution to a deeply complex problem! The communication is dreadful in Halo 5, endless games are silent, everyone plays without mics and success and team work is achieved through everyone silently getting a great K/D spread.
Everyone that’s quiet main complaint is that they don’t like noise in the lobby. Like those fools playing hip hop or the screaming kids. So they just add the option to mute all? What? How is that a positive contribution to tackling the problem? Just switch the world off? Are 343 basing their decisions on Trump or Farage policies?
Why not just have a BETTER lobby system like in previous games where you can see your team, mute individuals and speak to your team?
What a lazy fix.
I never hear a peep other than from my firefight team. It seems like a good solution as they nor you can control others from muting their kinects. This is better than going one by one until you find the couple of players with kinect.
in a perfect world Bernie Sanders will make sure everyone gets Mics and Headsets with their Xbox ones!!!
oh wait…
its a persons PERSONAL choice to use one or not (or use a party chat)
keep politics out of Halo please
You are right, it is a personal choice and I find it utterly utterly bizarre that anyone would choose to not communicate in a team based competitive game! It’s madness, but that’s a different issue.
This is a lazy fix, they should bring back the previous lobbies from Halo games where you could see your team, who had a mic, who was spamming and individual muting.
Mute All is a dreadful solution. What if seconds after you mute some guy spamming Dr Dre, someone looking for team work and communication starts speaking?
Mute all hardly seems to work for me anyways, sometimes it’ll only mute a few people. I can’t tell if that’s just a visual glitch or not but it doesn’t matter when I’m always in a party/skype. Also communication isn’t really an issue, and you should probably keep the political bashing out of Waypoint.
I don’t like that option either just because there always is some idiot playing hiphop in the background. I tend to just take my headset off until the game starts and then I’ll make callouts in the game (relevant info of course) if I’m lucky, other people in my team will get their headsets and join in. There does need to be a better lobby system, but since WE can’t change that right now, we just have to be the solution to our own problem.
You can single out people to mute, but sometimes there are people who are just all loud, eating, annoying, and those ‘squeekers’. I like the mute all option and dont see what’s wrong with it. I do prefer to communicate (hence the mic) but there are a few games where I refuse to listen to those other people.
I’d rather have something over nothing. I don’t think it’s a lazy fix since it’s probably the best they can do with a crappy lobby system. In order to make the mute system better in the lobby, they would have to overhaul the UI which I doubt is going to happen.

But they’re the ones who made the lobby system! They should have just made a better lobby system! haha
Of course they should have, but not being able to mute people was most likely an oversight on their part.
Right…that’s what I’m saying. They should have just done that in the first place.
This isn’t a “something is better than nothing” scenario because they provided both options.

I have had two games. TWO. In the past 50-100 matches where people in my lobby were making valuable voice contributions. I normally play solo, and despite understanding the value of a coordinated effort, I’d rather silence than hearing unintelligible shouting or music / kids / dogs / moms / whatever else blaring through my headset.
I hope that this lazy fix isn’t it. That they’ll listen to those who want a better lobby system!
Also, wow, you guys are very politically sensitive.
