Musical instruments in halo

It would be fun if they added futuristic instruments that the players can play that can provide buffs to allies but they can’t really do anything aggressive to enemies. The instruments are sort of treated like weapons were you pick it up or switch from your assault rifle to a guitar.

Wouldn’t it fun to play a funny game type on action sack called band wars were everyone has instruments, brawling each other while playing music. Why not play a infection game mode where there is one invisible zombie and if you wanted to scare the survivors you could start playing a violin once you are close enough so they can hear it and freak them out.

Now they won’t be in most multiplayer gamemodes as they should remain serious and mostly remain as a sort of custom game thing like the golf club.

No offense, but this idea sounds quite silly, and even as a side feature isn’t really worth the time of the developers to implement.

The golf club was simply a reskinned Gravity Hammer, so it really wasn’t much of a hassle for the developers to implement.

A little weird, but then again, we did have a golf club. I think that weird reskins of weapons is more likely than instruments. You know, things that could be used as a weapon… I guess a futuristic keyboard could be a weapon…

To me, this doesn’t sound like a good idea. It’s original, but the thought of a Spartan or Elite pulling out a ukulele doesn’t sound like something that could be taken seriously. A golf club, maybe, but not an instrument.

Your not really causing any offence so don’t worry.

The idea is meant to be silly and it’s also meant to be fun. Developers love to create fun experiences to the user no matter how small they are. Why would it be hassle for them, game developer are more than willing to create fun experiences to the user, why do you think rockstar added a side mission where you fight aliens or killer clowns with a minigun

I use this as an Example that it can be done

Why do you need to use it as a weapon, can’t it be fun just to have silly toys to play with

Why do you need to take it seriously, having it won’t effect the seriousness of the story or competitive multiplayer. You can’t be serious all the time, sometimes you just need to have a laugh and smile, even 343i know This

There are no “musical” mechanics in Halo, besides getting in specific areas of the play space to play specific songs of course. The mechanic or element has to exist to make it feasible for the developer to implement.

As for Rockstar and their killer aliens/clowns mission, they did have one of the largest budgets of all time for any video game. There was so, so much content in that game, so something like that was probably not much of an issue to implement.

Halo’s development is much more limited, and things are bound to be cut for more crucial additions.

Well a indie company called hello games are making a space exploration game called No man’s sky which is being made by 6 people at most. As long as you put the time and dedication you can do anything. They can make a mechanic like this, they have money, resources, man power and highly skilled people to do incredible things. They aren’t limited, how can they be limited they are a massive company under the wings of one of the biggest financial company in the world.

I do remember laughing at that video a while back. Good times.

Even still, while I’m all for a laugh here and there, the idea of defeating your enemies with the power of rock & roll doesn’t sound like something in a Halo game. The franchise has always had a serious mood to it. Yeah, Easter eggs and Sgt. Johnson’s one-liners have always been pretty amusing, but overall the series has been serious. I can see this kind of thing being in a game like TF2, because at it’s core, it’s always been wacky and animated.

I wouldn’t mind seeing something like this as an in-campaign Easter egg kinda like the Scarab Gun. But as for something in competitive multiplayer, I couldn’t see it happening.

I wasn’t really talking about competitive multiplayer I was talking mostly about forge and customs and some gamemodes.

But they could add instruments to campaign to add a more immersive factor seeing a marine play on the guitar singing or humming a sad song

Okay. Custom games I can see. I assumed you meant in multiplayer, like you could pick one up off the ground. If you make it like a golf club, then maybe.

And that kind of thing seems like a good Easter egg. Like if you are wandering the halls of Infinity and you come across a Marine strumming a few chords to himself.

As a weapon: Meh.
As an egg/bonus: Sounds good.

The using instruments they aren’t really use as weapons, sure you can hit people with but when using RT you play and they could allow people to create music for those instruments so machinima makers, music lovers and general people can enjoy this
