I think Halo 4’s music should really focus on 2 tones of which are:
-
Sad, slow toned, that is full of mystery like O.D.S.T.'s or somewhat like the remember hope trailer.
-
A scary, and eerie tone like from the Halo 4 concept art trailer.
Action music has been shown in every halo game to date. Maybe not as much should be in 4, since you are exploring an unknown world and don’t know what is behind any corner.
Anyone agree or disagree?
whistle whistle… anybody?.. Um, well, what do you think Halo 4’s emotional feeling should be like?
It should all sound pretty grand, not rocky stuff at all. Something like this is what I see for the game…

In honesty,
I think that Halo 4 needs to take a drastic turn in the Official Soundtrack and SFX.
My Reason:
We are now beginning the “Reclaimer Trilogy” and we are technically starting again. Everything we know about the Halo Series so far can possibly be scrapped. Halo 4’s music needs to be a mysterious and empowering as Halo: Combat Evolved’s but we must also bare the same sense of isolation as ODST and Halo: Reach.
We’re stepping into shoes that we do not recognise. We must be prepared…
I too agree with King, I’d like a totally fresh and new soundtrack for Halo 4. Not that I don’t love the iconic music that Halo 3 and what-not delivered, but for Halo 4, I want this to be a fresh experience with a new and exciting soundtrack.
The concept trailer was definitely a great start.

I agree, it was creepy and different, and I hope the music goes in that direction.

I would love to have music like this in Halo 4, along with something like farthest outpost.
I want Halo 4 to have a sense of awe and wonder. James Newton Howard comes to mind. I want to get goosebumps when I hear the music play as I look over massive landscapes filled with active Forerunner structures. There should also be that sense of impending dread too though. I mean we may find ourselves in a beautiful alien world but like the Flood on Halo, there is an ancient evil waiting for us in Halo 4.
