It depends on my mood, but when I do occasionally listen to music its either something fast like punk or ska. Occasionally its a podcast.

Same here. I find that I am more focused when killing the other team when I am listening to FFDP, or System of a Down, or something like that.

The best thing EVER is listening to Linkin Park - The Catalyst on Invasion when 2 random teammates quit, so me and four friends are holding off in the building on err… that dusty invasion map… can’t remember the name, lol.
We were doing well holding them off, when three of my mates fell victim to an elites last fuel rod shell. i was on my own, they kept coming, and I hid behind a wall. The music slows down, I’m surrounded by carnage, alone. The Elites are getting closer… Then… all of a sudden, a General hops on top of the wall with a sword in his hand.
He is about to kill me when the music kicks in, and a Spartan Laser takes him out as at the PERFECT time. At 3 minutes 52 seconds. Watch it, and imagine an Elite about to kill A Spartan and getting hit with a Spartan Laser through the top of the head at a 45 degrees angle, and knocking him over, dead.
My team’s back! Three mates, one with a splaser, two in a falcon. The amazing-ness of it was incredible. We won that game obviously, and I will NEVER forget it.

I just listen to the game’s music. I don’t play music while playing online, it puts me off.
I hit the shuffle button on Pandora. It’s a mix of 70’s-00, some songs hit some miss but I’m usually so caught up in the action that I don’t usually notice what’s playing.
It depends what I’m in the mood for.
Though I listen to just about everything, it’s metal and oldies that get my game on.

Epic story!
I remember a BTB game on hemorrhage I played when me and my friend where playing against really skilled people, and we thought we were going to lose after two people quit on our team. But after we lost the lead I told him, “We’re taking the 'hog”. The whole game he demonstrated the best driving I’d ever seen in matchmaking, and I was gunning down wraiths, snipers, infantry, and the rest of the team. Then we ran into a revenant and I thought it was over, but then my friend actually hit a rock just as we were about to get hit by the revenant and we did a backflip over the rock and avoided the blast! The revenant fell to a sniper on our team. Needless to say by the time the game was over, we were left with a flaming warthog and a respective Untouchable and Road Hog.
hehehehe for the music to listen while playing Halo.
Actually, I only listen to the sounds of the game. But that song is fun to make people laugh over XBL in the lobby.
