Music Style in Halo Infinite

So in the Halo Infinite Engine Trailer, there was a chord that was struck with fans… Literally. With the return of a more classical Halo music that may be in Halo Infinite, what direction would you like to see 343 to take when it comes to the style of music they have, and what old/new practices would you like to return to Infinite as well? Be respectful to other people’s opinions and try and be descriptive. Thanks!

I said this in a previous thread discussing a similar topic, so I’ll paraphrase here:

Each game in the old franchise brought it’s own dish to the family potluck. CE brought wonder and mystery, H2 brought intensity and severity, H3 brought finality and gravity. Now H4 and H5 brought their own dishes to the potluck too, but they just didn’t fit with the other dishes. It’s like the old games brought steak and potatoes while H4 and H5 brought sushi and curry. I like sushi and curry, but I don’t want it alongside my steak and taters. So for Infinite, I want it to bring a new dish, but something that complements the others. Perhaps mix in a little of mystery, intensity, and gravity.

As a side note, would love to see a track or two from a band. Like how Breaking Benjamin did Blow Me Away for H2.

I adore the return of the Halo 3 piano fanfare, but I’d also love to see some serious percussion in keeping with the original CE soundtrack and especially the tribal sounding war drums of Reach’s OST. Especially in Reach, the percussion really lended an intensity to the game in both cinematics and raw gameplay.

I whole heartedly agree. I love the synth tracks from halo 4 and some of the brass fanfare from halo 5 is awesome and straight up crazy, but they do great in different spinoff games, like Halo Wars for instance. Halo Wars has one of my favorite soundtracks, and part of the reason I love it so much is because it fits the game. You just can’t say the same for Halo 4 and 5. It’s the classic American thanksgiving, so you bring classic American dishes. And Halo 4 and Halo 5 brought dishes for a hibachi grill. I think you make a great point.

Yes. With Halo Reach I found this kind of tactical baddonkery with the whole percussion, and it got me really pumped. Halo 3 brought a very real, grounded feeling, where there was weight in what was being done. Halo 2 is much alike to Halo Reach, but with guitars and such, which I personally like the style Halo Reach has opposed to Halo 2, but I’m sure both can be used in their own circumstances. And Halo CE did bring a whole mystique and wonder with this crazy environment on a whole planetary space ring. I feel if Infinite incorporated all of these environments and pieces together it could make for some crazy moods and feelings associated with the gameplay.
