To everyone that plays music in their headset in game chat:STOP IT!!! No one wants to listen to your crap music! If you want to listen to it, at least then of your mic or leave game chat! Even if it’s a good song, it’s still extremely poor quality and it makes it hard for people to concentrate!
You do have the option of muting them entirely…

This. Take matters into your own hands. You are the master of your domain.
Unless you live with your parents.

Or even your siblings/roommate or even a noisy neighbor.

I agree with you but it would be better if they had good music. Maybe some Metallica. Otherwise I mute them.
At least they’re using a mic! There should be a “mic required” lobby. If the music choice is crappy, they get muted. I don’t see how people listen to music when playing. Too distracting and blocks the noise of enemy approaching footsteps.
On the rare occasion, I’ll actually like the music and not mute them, but the majority of the time they get muted right away.

I don’t use a mic, and I often listen to music when playing (however when I play with friends, we talk using Skype or Discord). It’s nice and I don’t need to hear footsteps because I only play firefight. And I would never dream of inflicting my music on others through a mic, I can’t imagine why people do that.

Not always true. I’ve started pre-game and had no clue who was making the sounds till the game starts because the UI doesn’t make it clear…then by the time game starts it’s either putting up with the sound or being killed while trying to find the one making the annoying music while sometimes confusing it with people that are just eco-ing it through their mic and this is why sometimes I just go into party chat just to have some quiet before it kicks me for not talking after a while. lol

Pretty sure there is a “mute all” feature in the lobby. I recall taking advantage of it many, many times.

Except if I’m talking to someone in pre-game or game chat…I wouldn’t want to mute all. I recall in classic Halo game I could scroll through player list in pre-game and select the specific player. It’s just bad UI design to expect players to mute all…if only 1 player is causing the problem, shouldn’t force me to go into party chat since I might just want to listen to team-mates in the game without talking.

The UI could use improvement, but that does not mean there aren’t ways to deal with a single problem player. The tools to control who you hear and don’t hear are there; they might not be convenient as they could be, but they’re there. At some point, you’ve got to stop complaining and actually do something yourself. Blaming the UI doesn’t mute the music-blowers.

Except I’m not employed by 343i. I don’t mind creating UI for my own games…but really sorting out bad UI is really down to 343i. Gamers who bought the game can only do so much. Dying several times while trying to find the ‘music-blowers’ isn’t exactly fun either. Knowing is half the battle.

So what are you going to do? Wait for 343i to change the UI, or figure out another way of muting music-blowers on your own?

Thought that was obvious. I can only do what 343i has set up for everyone to do…‘mute’ in-game while possibly dying. Mentioning is technically constructive feedback…like I said “Knowing is half the battle”, the rest is down to 343i to sort out.
Simply put…all we gamers can do is wait just like the many people waiting on fix’s for Halo MCC.

Then you are still in control of what you hear, and therefore the master of your domain. You make the choice of whether to use the available tools to either mute everyone or set up some other way of selectively hearing who you want. Or, you choose to suck it up and deal with the music-blowers. Choice is the essence of control.

Pretty much, not much else we can do. Just hope H6 takes the constructive feedback from the fans, learn from the experience.
As was said, you can just switch to party chat and mute game chat…
Have a nice day!
