Music in Halo: Infinite

Have you ever thought about how good the music is on Halo? That’s a dumb question, of course you have. Any Halo player has.
Though a thought came to me: You don’t really hear people talk about how good Halo 4 and 5’s soundtrack was. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s really good, but not nearly as good as CE, 2 & 3’s. You’ll probably notice that that 4/5’s music sounds like the techno-orchestra that you’ll find a lot in modern FPS games like Call of Duty, or Gears if War, but CE-3s music is just plain orchestra (music like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings).
So that said, I really think 343 should bring back the classic Halo music (by Martin O’Donnell). It’s one of the things that makes Halo’s music really unique. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I think that the music in Halo is one of the most important features.

And who knows, if they manage to get John Williams or Howard Shore to work with 343 on the music, that would be incredible (and it doesn’t seem impossible! Bungie managed to get Paul McCartney to help with the Destiny soundtrack).

Yes, I would like a music style like halo 3 or reach to return.
Halo 4 and 5s music fit their aesthetic, and halo infinite has a different aesthetic then halo 5 already I think that the music will probably be something more like halos 1,2, and 3.

halo 4 sounds like techno orchestra cause it essentially was and I enjoyed many of the tracks given the context of the game itself. Green and Blue is a personal favorite. Hell, even H5 has some great tracks. Here is the thing though, at the time H4 and H5 were despised (H5 more so). As a result, any music that would be considered good is forgotten.

Halo Wars 2 did a great job, if 343 does a similar route, maybe we could have the good old days of Halo music again.

I was thinking the same thing, the backlash overshadowed the OST for H5. I think all the OSTs had great variations of the theme but I keep H5’s in the playlist wherever I go and load up ODST for those easy listening days lol. Can’t wait to hear what Infinite will sound like.

The trailers for Infinite so far have had the old school Halo tracks which gives me a lot of hope for a return to form with the music in the game.

Think there’s only one track in Halo 5 that I really really enjoyed

In my opinion, it seems pretty hard to mess up a Halo soundtrack. They always seem to just sound great

I’ve been here since CE, and while the original trilogy OSTs were great, but especially Halo 4 has an OST which belongs right up there with the rest of them in my opinion.

The two best ones from that game in my opinion:
117 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUrsOQanozo
Arrival - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miwmCI7VS58

I haven’t played through the Halo 5 campaign as much as I have liked, and as such I don’t really have pointers OST-wise there.

Halo 4 and 5’s was not great! Marty’s music or something similar needs to return!

It pretty much is impossible at this point,
at the last E3 343i already announced that Curtis Schweitzer will compose the music of H:I.

Tom Salta’s work for the Spartan Strike and Assault games sounded pretty good, I feel like he’ll capture a lot of fans attention if he where to do the tracks for Infinite.

There was far more to it than just plain orchestra music. Especially where Halo 2’s soundtrack is concerned. Marty O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori did an amazing job, there was also that fantastic guitar work from Steve Vai, Reclaimer is a personal favourite. Then there were the tracks or inspired tracks from Hoobistank, Breaking Benjamin and even Incubus on the soundtrack album. A lot of unique elements went into the Halo 2 soundtrack.

Also, as stated Cutis Schweitzer’s name was linked. I listened to Interstellar Rift’s theme tune and he’s good. He also did the music for the Discover Hope trailer. We could be in good hands.

Based on the two trailers we’ve gotten abd the guy composing Infinite I think we are going back to that more intrumental tone.
