Multiple SPNKr Rocket Launchers?

So, I noticed from the latest community update: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/cartographer-s-gift-sneak-peek

There seem to be a whole class of SPNKr Rocket Launchers. Originally, they promised to bring this back as a Legendary/Mythic Weapon, and I suppose that is still true as there will be a variant on this level.

But why add a whole set? Just because ‘well, we have this model finished, it takes just a few minutes to slap a few different paint jobs on it, yoiiiink it, let’s just make 4 of these suckers for Warzone’

So, what are your thoughts on this? Is this going to crowd the ecosystem of launchers? How do you think the variants will function?

And perhaps most importantly since I’m pretty much an Arena guy, what will be the key difference between the SPNKr and the Pilum (default) Rocket Launcher base models?

Bolded: That seams to be the design philosophy for the entire REQ system. Why else would we have 6 versions of the scout hog?

I’m fine with there being different tiered items for actual useful weapons and vehicles though.

Am I right in thinking standard SPNKr’s are still capable of locking on? If not, that might be a feature of one of the variants.

Blue, yes I’ve definitely caught onto that. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, depending on how the variants are implemented. And it’s cool to check out a variant, but I mostly play Slayer so I don’t care too much either way.

C4MF3rg, I’m pretty sure the standard launcher can lock onto vehicles, at least airborne. Maybe the SPNKr will bring back ground vehicle lock-on?

I think the SPNKr will be more anti vehicle than standard launcher, with faster rocket speeds and better lock-on/homing capabilities, but reduced splash damage to compensate and not make it better in every way than the existing RL. That’s my best guess.

I think you’re correct. The rockets are over twice the size as the standard launcher rockets.

Oh nice! Thanks for that link! YOU MY BOY BLUE

Why are there 4? Because 343 would rather make ugly cosmetics than actually work on adding meaningful content to the game. The more garbage they add, the more diluted the REQ pool becomes, and the chances of receiving decent items are reduced. As a result, microtransaction sales go up because it now takes more packs to get what is desired. That is, if one is foolish enough to spend large amounts of money on an RNG system.

One rocket shoots one at a time. One shoots three at a time. One shoots 5 at a time. And the Legendary shoots ten at a time. Duh

^^ So automatic suicide every time you fire it? Sounds like a sweet trap to leave for an unsuspecting victim.

Just don’t fire it indoors. Kind of like the River of Light

It doesn’t really matter why there are multiple ones. They all behave ever so slightly differently it probably won’t make much of a difference. Either way, I’m not spending my money of Req packs so I just see it as a greater chance that I will end up with one of them.

All i know is that it doesn’t matter, because i dont even have the Halo 5 rocket launchers yet. I do have almost every scout warthog however.

Exactly. Scout Warthogs turn the tide of every warzone match.

No, they don’t. I did have some fun in a losing Warzone match by calling in 3 scout warthogs and running over those who didnt have a tank.

Apparently you missed this on the last thread you said the same thing on. Credit goes to JenguBlocku.

> Pretty sure that’s NOT how development works. You can’t get an Artist, who works on designing skins and armors, to work on coding the file browsing system. That’s just ludicrous. Pretty much every development company out there has small teams devoted to certain parts of the game. Writers, Animators, Artists, Sandbox designers, Coders, Musicians, Engineers, Model designers. These peeps specialize in their respective areas. Writers don’t design the weapons. Programmers aren’t responsible for the music. Animators don’t work on the UI.

I stopped frequenting as much and probably missed that. I am not saying the artists need to go work on the coding, or other features outside of their skill set.
What I mean is that 343 should stop spending a decent portion of their budget by telling the artists to create more skins and armors. I would be much more content to have two dozen armor sets that are actually good, rather than 180 that are mostly garbage. Weapon Skins? Most of them are bad and the only one that looks remotely cool are the new upcoming gold skins.

I want one that shoots ten rockets though.

Just pure awesomeness!! Can’t wait for the new Rockets! I miss them.
