We’re (give or take) a month out from Infinite’s release and there are still some unanswered questions I, and a lot of others, have.
-Is there an official collector’s edition? Walmart had one, but according to rumors it was not officially licensed by 343 and Microsoft. It was just a Walmart collector’s edition.
-How long is the game? Halo games have usually been 6-7 hours long in the past. Will this be longer or the same?
-Is there a season pass? Paid DLC? There’s a rumor that story expansions for the campaign will be free but this has not been confirmed or denied.
More transparency on these fronts would be highly appreciated. Keep up the amazing work 343i, I can’t wait for December 8th!
Hmmm, you have a valid criticism, but these sort of details are never something announced before a games release. It’s not really expected of 343 at this point except the collectors edition of course, which might just be the hard-case edition that was announced a few months back
I honestly wouldn’t expect an answer to this till someone has had the chance to hop on and actually play the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a developer just openly say how long their game is. That said, I would assume the campaign is much longer than the typical 6-7 hours seeing as it is 60 dollars, otherwise that’s a VERY steep price.
343 have said that there will be Battle Passes that players will complete in order to unlock all sorts of cosmetics. IGN actually posted an article today on Infinite’s first Battle Pass, it’s worth a look. Keep in mind though that 343 has not said there are any Campaign expansions in the works, so I’d pump the breaks on those rumors.
I believe they said the world is bigger than Halo 4 and 5’s combined, not that it’s longer. Which yes, would suggest its longer, but it depends on how the space is used as to how much. If half of the space is taken up by optional side content, and it’s literally only just a bit larger then 4 and 5 combined a straight run through the game’s core mission content could be comparable in length to one of the previous games. We’ll have to wait and see.
@GLNK1 is right.
They said the world of the game is larger not that the campaign longer. For all we know, so far, the game is only 6 hours long but the world is padded out with side quests.
@Knightinggale96
I would add, not sure if this is what you’re saying so don’t think I’m attacking you, but just because some of the content might be side content doesn’t mean it’s automatically worse or doesn’t provide equal value. It’ll depend on how the side content is implemented. If it’s fun, provides extra narrative information and gameplay progression then I think it’s not necessarily a problem that it can be skipped. Take a game like Breath of the Wild, arguably everything bar the introduction and the final boss fight is side content. Its best to take the game as a whole package, rather than placing arbitrary rules on how much you need to complete as an important benchmark
