Multiple Gold Pack Bundles in REQ Store

Now, I know that Halo 5’s Microtransactions will not go away (even though I wish they’d go away) since they have made A LOT of money from them, and that’s fine, they won’t go away and people seem to like spending money on these microtransactions (even though many people definitely hate microtransactions on AAA games, including me since they can literally destroy the game and screw your wallets), and that’s ok. But, recently, the REQ Store in Halo 5 has several bundles which include multiple Gold Packs like a bundle which includes 3 Gold Packs for the price of $9 dollars and several others.

Now, some people will say that this is a good thing since they wanted to buy many Gold Packs, but I myself think that this is just a way to make the Gold Pack deal more atractive in order to persuade more people to buy the Gold Packs with real money, and these bundles cannot be bought with normal REQ Points, only real money. I think that this is more bad than good and I believe they should make the Store how it was since these bundles make the REQ Store definitely look like a mobile microtransaction Store (which it roughly is and fully tells us with these bundles in the Store). I highly suggest to remove that and leave it how it was or at least remove all the bundles except for one (the bundle with 3 Gold Packs) so that it can please the guys who spend a lot of money and want to buy a lot of Gold Packs and also so that people don’t think that the Store looks a lot like a mobile microtransaction store like the one in DragonAge Inquisition Multiplayer.

P.S.: My personal opinion on Halo 5’s microtransactions is that I would like that these microtransactions would not be in the game. I like the idea of the REQ System, it sounds excellent on paper, (especially if it had no option to pay real money and made the REQ Point requirements lower, 4000=Silver, 8000=Gold) but the microtransactions are what can destroy the REQ System from being a good system and while they are still not that invasive unlike other microtransactions in other AAA games (Assassin’s Creed Unity, DragonAge Inquisition, The Crew, etc.), they are there to get money from your wallets and with these bundles, it only confirms it more. I suggest for newcomers to Halo 5 to spend Req Points on pure Silver Packs until they have half of the entire REQs in the game. When you have all REQs that are from Common to Rare, then you go for Gold Packs since the rest of the REQs are Ultra Rare and Legendary.

I’ll repeat what I said in another thread. I’m fine with this form of microtransaction; it pays for the DLC and funds the HCS prize (not that pro gaming interests me in the slightest). It’s not even the first time I’ve seen this done, EA did the same with Mass Effect 3. Though in that case they later added the option of weighing the drop rates in your favor with special packs for weapons, characters, or item rarity. I’d like to see 343i learn from that example but seeing how they just toss more gold packs in a bundle it just seems lazy to me.

Don’t buy them.

Can’t even imagine how long it would take to grind up to a x32 gold pack.

I see what you mean, but again, if this is a way for 343 to justify free forge and remix maps… Then yes, keep it. However, as you’ve eluded to, there should be a seperate shop just so we can pretend that the microtransactions aren’t there. Also, so I don’t have to wait 30 seconds every time the game switches my cursor upon loading and thinks I want to pay $30 for the premium pack.

why do you even care about Micro transactions? if you don’t hate them don’t buy them. the people that do buy them just have a lot of money they can waste. and you can still earn them legit with in game cash call “req points” so why are you complaining? and those gold bundles, theres nothing different about them than from a regular gold pack, you just get multiple gold packs. plus look at it this way, when people buy those packs with real world money, 343 uses that money to make the game better.

Ok guys, first of all, I don’t buy the microtransactions at all, I save my money to buy other games and if you make the math, you can take a long time to get all the REQs using REQ Points (around 400-700 hours to be precise and around 1,750,000-3,000,000 REQ Points, not that precise in REQ Point count but close to that), so the best option for everyone who does not want to do that is get Silver Packs for a while and have the mentality of not going for all REQs in the game.

And why does it take that much time and REQ Points to get everything? To buy the Gold Packs using real money, that’s why and with these bundles, you can pay immediatly for all the Gold Packs you plan on getting with real money. Also, they make the deal more attractive to people who want to buy them and even for people who are resisting to buy them. This is exactly why I think microtransactions should only belong on mobile games and that microtransactions are -Yoink- in any AAA game, even if they are the least invasive. With the smallest option of getting something with real money (excluding DLC and games) is a microtransaction, whether it’s to advance to the next level or stage, paying to pass through a pointless grinding, etc.

The reason I care about microtransactions ZombieSlayer008, is because if people are still buying them, they will continue to appear on more AAA games and will become a very, UGLY trend in AAA games since people seem to like paying for these things that only belong to mobile gaming and screw up our AAA games and experiences on our consoles and PCs.

The 32x Gold Pack is not purchased with REQ Points, it’s only purchased with real money.

Well said.

Just ditch all the Gold pack bundles minus one, or put them somewhere else so the people who only use REQ points don’t see them.

I think they should be made an Xbox Store thing, rather than front and center in the REQS screen.

I have never used real world money on REQ packs and i never will, I will only use in game RP.

By adding all the new “deals” it makes easy to blow a lot of cash on this game. Most ppl don’t mind spending a couple of bucks to get what they want. Personally I would not spend 100+ dollars on the add-ons, but it’s all about freedom of choice and let’s face it it’s making lots of money I’m sure so it won’t be going anywhere soon.

I might spend a few dollars on the Req when I feel like 343 has pushed enough worthy content to be worth buying but so far I feel like I just have what I payed for. Leave them be in the game and please stop making more and more threads about this.
