Multiple ending Halo game?

Iʻm not talking about a multiple choice game. Im not familiar on how it works, but think of it as making certain choices in a game that lightly effect your path through the story even the gameplay. For example, saving someone before the timer runs out. If you get to the objective before the timer, they live and you get to kill the beheader. If you donʻt they die and you still kill the beheader. Or maybe in a game mission, you are noted of ambushed marines needing assistance. Get there in time, you save them and they help you as far as they can or if you donʻt get there in time, they die and you carry on. Maybe many more type of situations in the game ect.

Gameplay wise, this could make the game more interesting and fun depending on the pace of the missions.

Story wise, the actions and choices you choose or unable to choose define Master Chief and his allies throughout the story. And that leads to multiple endings. In the end, there is only one true canon ending that us players would have to find in the campaign.

Halo titles have never been marked by their emphasis of choice. Considering how little details there are of the campaign I don’t think they would deviate to far from previous titles. Personally I’m not a big fan of introducing choice based endings where they are unnecessary. Having non-canon endings only detracts from the emphasis of choice. The only non-canon ending I can think of in Halo is from CE where Johnson hugs the elite which was intended to be a joke ending.

I think adding bonus endings for meeting a challenging requirement like legendary or LASO would be nice to work toward to getting a glimpse at things to come, or perhaps they might start with campaign DLC which could be interesting.

Multiple endings would improve replayability. But any ending would have to be the result of player choices. What if you could during the campaign choose between A or B, then play on and choose again between C or D, and have this result in 1 of 4 endings. Then you can already replay the game another three times.

I would actually really like if there are certain choices in the game like how to approach enemies and stuff like that but I really hope we do not have choices that effect the outcome of the story because that would just be dumb if there are multiple endings with only one being canon.

In my… theorized answer, I the choices we make will be defined by us. And after 5 games of Master chief, the choices you believe that define him as a Soldier, a Machine, a Human is what leads to the main true ending.

Im not talking about multiple choice endings fyi. Im talking about like in-game gameplay situations. Not “Press A for this option, Press B for second option” type of multiple choice in cutscenes or something. Its not RPG.

I like the idea. Personally I would only have it as stuff like marines dying and things like that that makes you feel good, or rewards you, but barely effects the story. Maybe they could have some things like the secret level on Halo CE? Almost the same ending, but now you have a bunch of marines you saved, stuff like that. But yeah, good idea. I guess we can only wait and see what happens in the endof development

Maybe they could have it like the secret level in Halo CE, or else throughout the game really tiny things like saving a few marines that thank you then run off (or maybe go with you for a while, but nothing that changes the narrative). This would mean you can change stuff, and you do feel good about doing it but the story still has the Halo feel.

Also, I personally believe DLC story is a bad idea, unless it comes in a free update, such as what Halo 5 kept doing. I just wouldn’t want to have to keep throwing money at the screen. Though I guess if that’s the cost of a brilliant Halo game, I wouldn’t mind as long as it isn’t too expensive
