I just started playing H5 multiplayer and can’t seem to get a handle on controlling the vehicles.
On the XB1 Controller–what accelerates-brakes-back up- and steers the vehicles?
I am able to move the vehicles but have a hard time accelerating to go faster and just steering it.

Use the thumbsticks to move and steer. Some vehicles also have a boost feature. Activate it with Left trigger.

I’m assuming you haven’t played Halo before? If not, welcome! Vehicles accelerate, decelerate, and reverse with the left stick. Some can also strafe (move left and right) with the left stick (Ghost, Wraith, etc.) Right stick is used for steering as well as aiming. Boost is also possible with the left trigger. I believe the only exceptions to this are the Scorpion tank and Mantis. With those two, you completely steer into any direction with the left stick and aim with the right.

Ultimately, it’s just time and practice. You’ll soon become comfortable which each vehicle’s characteristics.

Pro tip. You can actually control the yaw and pitch of every vehicle in Halo.

Fun Fact: Vehicles are fine and dandy but the physics in Halo 5 are broken.

Ever since Reach, vehicles have been supernatural. It can make for some good laughs though.
