Anything you wish Halo had within its multiplayer that you would think would be a great addition or change?
For me I wish the game either had a vote system to end lop-sided matches or bot back-filling to help matches when people quit or when the game doesn’t load everyone in.
I’ve said this before , but the last thing you want is bots in Halo. Not trying to say “that’s not Halo” or any thing like that. However , bots in Halo will always be one of two things , either they will be worse than having a team full of randoms or they will be good enough to carry players to wins they don’t deserve.
Even if you limit this to social games only , how do you balance them? Are they level 50 bots? level 30? When do they become crutch or detriment? Too many questions come immediately to mind to make this concept work. Even CoD bots (which have been in most iterations of the game) are headless chickens. Inefective at worst , barely a fight at best.
I do agree with the vote to end a game that is 2 on 4 or worse.

Gears 5 has an okay system of Bots. They really don’t add or subtract from the possibility of losing. Halo is a different game however. I have played in games that it helped me and my friends that we had less players than the other team. Maybe they can have a system where, if people leave a game, the team can take a vote on whether or not to fill the team with bots. I feel like that is the most equitable solution. People are usually better than bots so the other team wouldn’t be at a disadvantage. Just my quick thoughts.

Yea I was mostly thinking on how Gears 5 has it and it helps make some matches not feel so bad when missing a person, most of the time people are better then the AI but at least they can be used as a distraction. They are also more of a middle ground compared to Sunsdune example cause most of the time they will get killed but sometimes they can randomly get a clutch kill.
Also maybe bot filling can be done by the person hosting said match, i.e. Set an option to allow bots to fill the rest of the lobby so that if you wanna do a custom slayer game or something you can do it without having to recruit half your friends list to play.

I’d absolutely be in favor of a “vote to surrender” option once the game becomes sufficiently imbalanced. Other games have implemented mercy rules of some form successfully.
Back-filling matches with AI controlled bots would potentially be viable in non-ranked play but then you have to decide what skill level to make the bots. A bot will never have the tactical skill of a top-level player but 343i could potentially give them superhuman “aim bot” levels of aim, which wouldn’t be fun to fight against. And depending on the general skill level of the human players, this AI opponent will either be absurdly difficult, or trivially easy, to fight against.
Is there any competitive shooter that has done this previously? I’d be curious to know how that game handled AI opponents.
In ranked matches, it’s obviously not an option because the all player controlled team can’t be potentially punished for someone on the opposing team quitting. It simply comes with the territory in ranked play that your teammates may rage quit or disconnect mid-match.

the bots ai level could be based on the average points per game cross modes (k/d in case of slayer) of all players in the match combined for social playlists. taking the average over the whole list of player performance should bring the results to the true players skill (large sample size). This way the ai would be “average” to the pool of partaking players. if your team is -Yoink- and the other team is good, the ai could possibly carry you and vice versa.

The only game I`v played that had bots was Gears of War 4&5 and im sure there are some more. So far they were either very stupid ai or just OK.
