Multiplayer Slayer enhancements

I’ve played a -Yoink- ton of halo 5 multiplayer, and I often think about what 343 could add in terms of games mechanics and features that’d keep things halo but make it a bit more exciting during standard Slayer matches

These are some ideas -

  • Ability to mark players so you can hunt them down (you in turn would know you were marked) - Ability to use dpad to offer basic comms to team mates (hold, get down, run to mark, ability to set mark) - More gadgets, smoke grenades, trip mines, net that temporarily disables you (but you can still melee). - For the love of god sort the servers out - Ability to lock in to a team with random people (show win streak) if you’re about to face a team that have won their last 5 matches, it makes it more intense to make this known to the opposition. - Gotta say 343 should give some love to the veterans of halo 5. Maybe Unlockables or something? - Armour effects were a cool touch in reach, maybe bring them back - I think as you level up your armour should noticeably look more bad -Yoink-. Apart from a few bits, the majority looked kinda naff imo - Ability to sell unwanted packs in bulk. There’s your lot. Feel free to jump in.

Most important thing on your list in my mind is better matchmaking (guessing that’s part of what you mean by fixing servers). It’s pretty slow and inconsistent. To go along with that, menus that don’t feel like they were made as part of a high school intro course. I’m limiting this to Halo 5, in case that was unclear.

I sort of like the marking idea, but not as you’ve explained it. I don’t want to be able to mark other players, but I would like to be able to place a marker wherever I’m looking so my teammates know a general location of an enemy. This is used in R6: Siege, and whenever I swap from that back to Halo 5 I always find myself trying to mark things for my teammates. It’s a useful tool that isn’t overpowered like I think marking players would be.

Also, as for special things for Halo 5 veterans, it’s been confirmed that you get something special in Infinite for reaching SR152 in H5.

I like this idea. It will benefit solo players who have teammates that don’t use a mic or who don’t use a mic themselves.

First is a huge, HUGE no. That doesn’t sound fun for anyone but the mark-er and is a pretty freaking massive crutch. Learning where people will tend to hide and whatnot is a hallmark of a good player, and I’d rather this game still have SOME kind of skill ceiling. And before anyone says anything, yes, I dislike it in Battlefield too. I just hate it even more in a close ‘arena’ shooter like Halo.

Second, on the other hand, isn’t bad at all. Although half of it is superfluous with traditional Halo gameplay. (Get down? Ha, there’s no ‘getting down’ in Halo. Just getting away.)

Third, the first two sound okay, the third sounds incredibly unfun to fight. I’ve wanted Smoke grenades in Halo for a while, though it’d be another ‘But why?’ addition to the sandbox.

Fourth and fifth; Yes and yes, but instead of locking in TEAMS, just lock in players Reach-style. If you wanted to stay as the same team as some other randos, you should probably just use the already-existing party system. As for the win streak… Sure, actually. If they don’t mess up the UI again, as they did with every Halo title since Reach.

Sixth; Yep. I’d love for those to come back.

Seventh; That’s more of a symptom of REQ packs also unlocking armor. With a credits AND rank system like Reach had, I’d wager you’d get your wish.

Eight; That’s my major gripe with Halo 5’s REQ system. Other than armor being tied to it so intensely.

Definitely no markers. That’s basically spotting, and it takes away the need for awareness and communication even more. I wouldn’t mind things like smoke grenades to be honest, even though I would want them to be limited in the types of playlists they’re in. What I would absolutely disagree with is anything like concussion grenades from BO4. There’s a consistency and predictability with Halo’s MP that I believe needs to be retained to be successful.

Sorry by ‘get down’ I meant crouch, people don’t use it enough. Great feedback guys.

This is one of the worst threads I have ever seen. I hope 343 takes this as what NOT to do.

A lot of those ideas sound straight out of Call of Duty to be honest, which is not what Halo needs. I would love for them to bring back equipment from H3.
