Multiplayer Score Board

Was just wondering, do you think Halo Infinite’s multiplayer matches could go back to how they had the online in-match score boards back in Halo Reach and prior with only showing the kills in game and not assist and deaths like in Halo 5. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind keeping track of how I’m doing mid-match but I feel it also creates negativity as well during matches. Since the K/D is out to see, I’ve noticed teammates will be quick to attack their own if they feel they’re holding them back and it potentially allows for the opponents to single out whoever they feel is the weak-link on the other team. I’m not proud of this but I will also admit, there were points when I even snapped at teammates when they weren’t keeping up. I don’t mind seeing my own K/D when I pause during a match but seeing others mid-match can cause tempers to fly especially if you feel like you’re carrying the team.

they will fly regardless. Seeing low kill counts did the same thing in older halos. You cant get around it unless you just didnt show the board.

There’s pros and cons to both. At the end of the day certain players will be -yoinks- to their teammates and the opposition regardless.

I’d have no qualms about removing deaths from the board to make room for a Score column separate to Kills (as in non-Slayer Gametypes all we sometimes see is Score, Assists and Deaths) - sure in Slayer you’d then have two columns showing almost identical info, but it would be different in many cases (e.g. due to suicides/teamkills - and i feel that info can be useful to know).

As someone who’s rarely in the carrying position vs being carried, I’ll confess my KD isn’t great and my KDA is only ususally hovering just above the 1.0 level and yeah i definitely often find myself being singled out in games as the first called target.

Realsitically I think what will make the difference though is the eSports scene - the information that people will want displayed during that will probably inform what we do for all games as it’s easier to do that out of the gate and keep it something players will be familiar with. Though I could see an argument for altering between Social and Competitive lists.

I would like to see a category on the scoreboard for time on objective/general objective stats during Objective game modes. We do get some of that now in Halo 5 but more info would be cool. I do think regardless of how much or how little you show on a scoreboard, players will be toxic to other players that they believe are not carrying their weight. Whether they point to the scoreboard and a specific number or whether they just yell at you for being bad for an intangible reason, there’s no stopping someone if they really want to be a jerk to you. I wish it wasn’t that way but sometimes people are mean. Even I get toxic at people sometimes although i never message anybody. It’s hard to remain calm when you’re playing a competitive game :frowning:
