So we already know that MP will be free to play and that because if that there will likely be monetization with micro transactions, but have we heard yet if there will be any kind of benefit for those who purchase the full game?
Like for instance will we get slightly more xp or have exclusive skins and armor pieces.
I would like to maybe see some exclusive skins and armor pieces since we paid the full price instead of just downloading it.
What do you guys think and do you think they will?
What I’m hoping for is the F2P version will be more like free user vs paid user kind of thing. You can try and play the game for free but if you want access to stuff like progression, armor customization, and stuff like that then you need to buy the full game. Would lessen the need for in game microtransactions as much as possible.
I’m thinking that you’ll earn skins or armor for completing things within the campaign - which is only available to those that purchase the game. Otherwise I don’t care if the free players get to have access to everything else paid players have. More people is great for the game.

this is a terrible idea and defeats the purpose of a low barrier entry. At the end of the day, the multiplayer needs to compete with Apex, Warzone, fortnight etc. If you remove access to the core multiplayer progression systems, your gonna lose access to all ftp players (which Halo does not need to happen).
We do know there will be things like campaign/pve challenges (similar to MCC). Those will most likely reward xp and cosmetics. This means those without the campaign will lose access to those additional cosmetics and challenges.

Agreed - making Free users second class citizens helps no one.
I think the most important clues here are:
MCC’s entirely free Season pass system - Sea of Thieves’ Freemium Battle Pass System (the most recent Xbox Game Studios implementation)MCC has clearly demonstrated the usefulness and importance of a Free Season pass as a player engagement tool, while Sea of Thieves has taken that one stage further with the Freemium model and having the paid tier above with additional items.
Sure, those who buy the game may get the first season’s premium tier for free but thereafter they’d likely be the same as others.

Here’s a thought… How about those who already paid for the game don’t need to pay even more for the game’s content… xD
It’s fair that those who don’t wanna pay for a game don’t get all the content. But there are a lot of fans who just wanna buy the game and then actually have the full game. That’s not what draws in the most money, I get it. Doesn’t make it fair to the fans though.

Why not? It’s been wildly successful in Sea of Thieves using the Freemium model and it’s generally well received in MCC as a player engagement tool

But you’re not paying for the MP because that’s F2P. We don’t know what will be included in the game itself so anything there is just speculation. You’re not going to get 10 years’ worth of content for $60 though. Plus many fans may not actually buy the game because of Game Pass.

MCC’s battlepass style progression is easily it’s biggest fault. Battlepasses are incredibly lazy and boring.

MCC’s isn’t a progression system, it’s an cosmetic unlock system. The progression system is still rank-based and static. The only difference from Reach is that XP and currency have been split and additional content now gets released on a seasonal basis rather than just unlocked solely by rank progression. If a season pass is present I’m absolutely certain it won’t be the only customisation unlock method as we know challenges and achievement-linked ones will still be there too, but it will be an important one.
You;re still not offering any actual arguments against it. How is it ‘lazy’, why do you find it ‘boring’?

Exactly, I’d rather buy it, and actually get the full game like the good old days lol, but that’s not an option. It just damages the experience so much.
MCC has given us 7 years (and more coming) of content for like half that price though… If it wasn’t a profit to them they wouldn’t do it.
I’m not personally a fan of the 10 year plan either. Games used to be a full product from the start that we bought and played as long as we felt like playing it, you’re saying that 10 years cost more than 60$ as if games are a subscription now, I’m not saying they aren’t. I’m saying the shouldn’t be.
It’s quite obvious that they’re not doing this because it’s a must to earn money, it’s to grab every penny possible. Greed not necessity.
Letting this downgrade the experience is honestly no way to treat the long time fans who have stood by the franchise for so long.

When MCC launched I doubt they even had plans to bring in Reach, ODST, or even possibly Spartan Ops. The more recent content has only been added by opening it up to a new market.
You’re totally missing the reality of the modern industry though. You will be getting a full game on release. It’s not like we’re going to get halfway through the campaign and suddenly ‘next time on Halo Infinite…’. You’ll get your full campaign experience on release and be able to play it in its entirety. This narrative that Live Service = incomplete simply isn’t accurate. Sure Destiny started it, and it is a trap you can fall into but infinite took the delay to ensure it didn’t. Live Service lets you then fund continued iteration and development of new content afterwards instead of redeploying your team to work on the sequel.

Nono I understand why the modern industry is the way it is (ish lol), I just think it’s bad, and shouldn’t be that way.
What’s your point with the MCC thing? How does that relate to the necessity of micro-transactions?

That would work, but I think a better option would be to have it free for everyone and then maybe just make it so those who bought the full game get more XP towards the battle pass and unlock stuff faster than those who play for free. That way everyone has access to everything, but at the same time giving a little thanks for those who bought the game by giving double xp or something in the battle pass.
It’d be like what the MCC has now, but paid players would get points/xp faster to unlock the cosmetics and skins.

They simply won’t do that. The franchise can only grow by encouraging and welcoming new players in, not making them feel like second class citizens
!ANNOUNCEMENT!
This is a petition to ensure that this long awaited game does not get ruined by Cross a platform competitive matchmaking mandate like other game titles have done.(COD Warzone)
-Giving us console players the sole option to choose if we want to play with overpowered PC systems.

It wouldn’t be making them second class citizens. They should do something for those who actually buy the game apart from those who just want to play for free and that would be one of the best ways I can think of because you know they are going to have a season pass or something and making it so the people who purchased the game get a bit more xp than those who didn’t isn’t that big of a deal. Everyone gets the same stuff its just those who put money down get a little bit of a boost. It doesn’t even have to be general xp just a boost to season points to unlock cosmetics a little faster. I don’t really see how that would be making the free players second class citizens when literally any other F2P game has paid seasons where you get more stuff if you buy the season pass. This way everyone gets the same stuff, but owners get it a little faster.

Because the core Halo Experience isn’t just SP it’s MP as well so those who buy it should get something a little extra that sets them apart from those who just downloaded to play for free. Because one side is supporting the game and the other is just playing the game.
