Multiplayer mode idea: escort

Mission brief: Alright spartains, times for some escort training. Team A is to escort an m312 Elephant across the map, this vehicle will act as their resupply point and armory. Where as team B has to destroy said vehicle.

gameplay: One team spawns at one side of the map with an elephant, all spartains spawn in it, the vehicle has 2 weapon racks that contain human weapons and a rocket hog in its bay. The other team spawns on the other side of the map their objective destroy the vehicle before it crosses the map.

Elephant
seats: 5
driver, 3x point defense gunners, 1x cannon gunner.
HP: a lot able to take heavy bombardment from land and air targets though it will eventually go down. The miniguns on the sides are easily disabled by a single tank shot, where as the heavy cannon can take several salvos.

Team one objective: escort the elephant, should be easy. A side objective to collect “intel” is spread across the map so they don’t just hug the vehicle. Once it gets to its drop off point they win.

Team two objective: destroy the elephant, they spawn at the drop off point, and get better and better equipment as the map goes on, they also have a side objective to activate anti vehicle gauss turrets through out the map which can be manned to fire upon the vehicle.

power weapons: pelican drops will come by and drop in supplies generally power weapons at random locations on the map. These are highly valuable as they will allow the attackign team to more effectively damage the vehicle or the defending team to counter the attackers vehicles and turrets. Map control is key for grabing these.

Battery packs: these are found through out the map and will randomly become active. Both teams can grab them but only the defending team can really use them. If brought to the elephant they have one of four effects which can be told by the color

  1. speed boost: doubles max speed for 30 seconds.
  2. Repair: repairs 10% vehicle damage, replaces lost turrets.
  3. Shields charge: gives a shield layer to the vehicle, though once it is down it is down.
  4. armory boost: spawns light power weapons in the elephants armory.

for the attackers these have the following abilities when placed in a Gauss turret.

  1. Fire rate boost: 25% faster fire rate for 30 seconds.
  2. turret repair: allows you to bring a destroyed Gauss turret back into play.
  3. Bubble shield: allows a one way shield, those inside can fire out. this lasts until 50% of its panels are destroyed.
  4. 25% damage increase until destroyed

I think ways to make Team One’s Objectives more interesting is to have some power weapons spawn / ordnance drops throughout the map, so that both teams are encouraged to have some type of map control to gain control of these drops.

Maybe you could also add “Battery Packs” that spawn occasionally that Defender teams can grab to give the Elephant a temporary speed boost, grant the Elephant shield energy, or repair. Maybe Attackers can’t grab these but they can kill Defenders that attempt to grab them. Basically just more ways for the Defender team to move around the map but also help with the objective, having all 12 teammates on the elephant wouldn’t be the most interesting gameplay.

Both of those ideas would really mix of the gameplay and would fit for the idea. Map control is something needed that much is for sure.

Hmm wonder if the escorting team should have more vehicles as the game goes on, or if they should be map spread.

This is actually a really interesting idea. I like that it breaks the mold and deviates from the usual objectives in standard modes.

I like it, what about a big team VIP variant as well? Where your VIP can be on the elephant and they have to kill them.

That would be fun as well, though I think it would have to be VIP squad where you have a 3 VIPs as in big team it would be to easy to just wipe one with overwelming firepower.

got an idea for this the ability to pick up heavy mounted weapons arround the map and mount them to the three turret points on the elephant, just imagine doing something liek finding a plasma turret then mounting it to a stationary hold to change its function.

I think we all want that, the flood really fit wave based defense, I mean look at how fun it is in halo wars 2.

Hmm got an idea based on this a PvE version.

firefight Escort
players: 10
info: Alright Spartans listen up you will be escorting an elephant through hostile territory. This fight is to simulate a real world evac as such you will have marines and elites working with you. Find survivors escort them to the elephant and get to the pick up zone. Rescue as many as you can before the Banished destroy your transport.

Mission play: all 10 players spawn in the elephant the load out is the same as the PvP version, the difference is is the players must survive wave after wave of Banished as well as save NPC’s dotted around the map. To help them every 2 waves allied NPC’s will be spawned these being marines or elites.

This starts out easy for the first 4 waves but there are 12 waves and near the end you are fighting constant banshee attacks, wraiths are trying to bomb the elephant and phantoms may spawn in to act as gunships.

note: the civilians are holograms, and obvious ones at that glowing blue.

Just a note after playing the technical beta, I really think an escort mode would work.
