The Multiplayer maps of Halo 5 have to be really good!
Really good means very good designs, good gameplay and beautiful environments and graphics.
We need multiplayer maps we will remember, love and want remade in future Halo titles (wanting a map remade in future titles means it is loved a lot)
The mapdesign is the most important factor of the maps and I think more Arena Styled maps are needed. Combine this with beautiful graphics and environments and you the Multiplayer maps part perfect
The graphics and environments for Halo 4 blew me away, they were phenomenal.
Then there’s the killer: good gameplay. This half depends on what mechanics are introduced and kept. The other half is how that map treats those mechanics, and vice versa.
For example, sprint caused a ton of uproar because it broke the maps (just saying, we do not need to bring that argument here).
And then the whole remake thing goes the same way with mechanics: the mechanics are bound to be different in future Halo games, and those will probably conflict with previous maps.
So having ‘good’ multiplayer map design can be a pretty bumpy road.
I think multiplayer maps will improve thanks to the removal of AAs. I can say that it is a lot easier to make a map without AAs than it is with them in mind since I have to try to make the map work with the possibility of any one of them in mind.
Not saying we will definitely have better maps (Halo 1-3 has had maps that are not popular back then), but the devs can have an easier time with that weight off their shoulders.
I thought Halo 4 did an alright job with this.
My list of memorable maps:
-Haven
-Solace
-Abandon
-Settler
-Exile
The graphics on Halo 4’s maps were phenomenal though. Room for improvement as well as far design goes.
I just want to see some more Covenant based maps. I can’t think of one in Halo 4.
I mean I sorta get it because there aren’t any playable Elites but still…at least give us some covie maps!
You sure about that? Absolutely positive?

not gonna lie, that’s pretty awful that that’s memorable, it’s a blank canvas with forge pieces on it.

this is a weird one, some maps skybox’s just seemed void from the aesthetic and seemed to just go HERES SOME SUNS, others had really good skybox’s that fit well with the map aesthetic, like perdition, skyline, landfall.
i’m gonna be critical here though, the forerunner structure design in halo 4 is the most aesthetically uninspiring thing i’ve seen in halo…they’re just so bland and void of character, they never mesh well with environments and stick out like a sore thumb.
but yes it’s going to be hard to tell whether the maps will be good…certain affinity have a VERY bad track record with halo maps, they have since halo 2…tombstone ugh, imo one of the worst maps in H2.

Thus is life…
I thought that the majestic and castle map packs were really good. My favourite maps being perdition and skyline.

Not Ravine, Settler. The 343 built into the Ravine forge world.
