For Halo 4 should they make multiplayer maps based on the Campaign levels like Bungie did with Halo Reach? Personally I think they shouldn’t, it’s a horrible idea that lacks creativity and makes for damn boring maps, I mean their not all bad, but the majority are just plain awful. DLC thankfully steered away from that, but anyways what are your thoughts? Should 343 do the same with Halo 4?
i hate the idea of taking play spaces from campaign and turning them into MP maps. Not only is it lazy, but it lacks in creativity.
Bungie did not take multiplayer spaces from the campaign, they integrated the spaces into the campaign. The Firefight maps, however, were taken from the campaign.
I agree completely. It’s just a lazy thing to do and makes all the maps boring.
Whoops, double-clicking the submit button again.

Any way around them is still pretty lame.
I would be totally fine if they look based on sections of the campaign (like how Rat’s Nest was to Crow’s Nest), though.
How is the DLC multiplayer maps suppose to be taken from the campaign? The multiplayer maps were designed and then padded to the campaign. Unless there was new campaign levels released via DLC and new multiplayer maps were designed and then placed in these new campaign levels then what you suggest is not possible.
If anything the only concern one would have with the relationship of multiplayer maps and campaign levels is that it could “cheapen” the campaign. Otherwise I do not see what could be the concern. If also potentially frees up more resources that could be utilized elsewhere especially with Microsoft’s interest in releasing Halo games more frequently.
Maps should* be based on campaign but not taken from or integrated into* the campaign.
Maps like Swordbase, Boneyard, Spire, Boredwalk, etc. fail because they are serving two purposes at the same time.
This is what 343i should avoid.
I think the maps should be completely original, like the CE maps or the maps in Halo 2 and 3, because that’s what made the multiplayer in those games so fun, the maps were dynamic and great.
Originatlity is the best concept, I’m sick of looking at campaign based maps.
Every firefight map has been from a specific part of the campaign, I know you’re thinking about the latest DLC map, but there was an oil refinery you had to pass through and kill a zealot. Bungie didn’t create that level’s play space in Reach but it was still tied into the campaign via similar visuals and a small backstory.
I don’t really care if they are from campaign or not. I just want them to be creative and fun.
