Multiplayer Map Voting

Would bringing back multiplayer map/game voting expose repetitiveness in gameplay and maps? I am curious what we think? Would this have more benefits or disadvantages to the game? Of course with so few maps in warzone circulation we see a slight repetitiveness already.

Having played Halo 4, the answer is yes. There are no true benefits or true disadvantages as far as the game itself is concerned. That comes entirely down to each individual player.

I have a feeling it would definitely show favoritism towards a small minority of the maps and modes and you’d end up with severely repetitive gameplay because of it. This is just from past experiences. Imagine playing Spire twelve times for example. Nobody would play Strongholds anymore ether most likely because the popularity of it got outweighed by the other options. I don’t think there’s much advantage or not at all in it since this is a game of situational awareness mostly and if you don’t have that on any map or in any game mode then you’ll not have a good time.

I also think a voting system would make things too repetitive. A better option is the veto system from Halo 3. Players had the option to reject a map but didn’t know what map would show up next. That made players think before hitting X because rejecting an unfavorable map could potentially mean an even worse one.

I prefer no voting or vetoing. I get way better variety without them. To me any one who wants voting to return doesn’t want variety. They want to play the map or maps they like over and over…aka repetitive game play. While vetoing isn’t quite as bad as voting it still leads to the same thing. Also a problem with both is as soon as a vote or a veto doesn’t go the way some one wanted it to go they quit out which would either make the game start with unbalanced teams or throw every one back into another search.

What 343 needs to do is have a soical match composer in every Halo from here on out. Make it so in social games you can choose game types(slayer, objective, infection or action sack…ect) and then even be able to select the maps you like… Of course the more specific your selections the slower your match making may be but at least you will always get excatly what you want. Of course this would only apply to soical as ranked play you should have to earn the rank on all maps.

Personally I wouldn’t want Voting, I like the idea of Vetoing like the Halo 3 option.

Veto system please! -> Halo 3 method.

Sword base, countdown, powerhouse, repeat…

Emphasis on sword base

Yes, it would create repetitiveness since people would vote for their favorite map/gametype.

I actually agree with the veto method, from H3, as well… H4’s voting method was… Different… But it did end up creating repetition. With the veto method you at least have a small voice as to whether or not the initial game/map generated is ok with the majority of players in the roster

I feel like having the ability to vote for a map sounds good on paper, but what others have said before, the repetition that occurred in Halo Reach was brutal. H3s veto method did help with the repetition, but maybe a way to solve it would be to cycle out certain maps so that they dont show up as often? Like in reach you had the option to pick a map, or pick “none of the above” and you had that choice I believe 2 times? then you would have to pick what is available. Maybe that system would work with a wide variety of maps so the same ones don’t show up all the time?
