Personally, I hope 343i only does all new original maps for Halo 4. I know it was Bungie, but whenever they would remake a map either they would alter it to make it way too noob friendly aka “blackout” or it wouldnt feel right to me aka “pinnacle.” Besides, this is what forge is perfect for. Forgers can recreate the Halo maps from the past and give them the exact same feel, and if they work for the game then great! If not, at least its not a waste of a map like I think “reflection” is.
Personally, I’m all for how 343 is treating HCEA remakes and I think they should take the same steps for every remake they bring back from now on.
What I love about HCEA is that although they’re making changes to some of these maps, they are at least bringing back classic versions with the original layout of the map so if the changes are hated by the community then they have something to fall back on that has proven to work well in the past and are already loved by the community. When Bungie brought back maps they made changes and called it a day. Unlike 343 who are giving the fans of these maps what they want which is the unaltered original masterpieces.
Certain Affinity really knows how to bring back old maps the right way. They did it with Hang 'Em High to Tombstone in Halo 2 and they’re doing it again with the HCEA maps in Reach. I think CA needs to work on at least one map pack for every Halo game from now on.
If maps get remade in future games I think they should only be available through one special DLC map pack and have that map pack be nothing but remakes just like HCEA is doing. Let 343 express their creativity in the maps on-disc and the first couple of map packs, but bring in CA to do a ‘Classic’ Map pack with a few of our beloved favorites. Only bring back the maps that work with the new games too. The great maps brought back in Reach (not HCEA) got their legacies destroyed by how bad they turned out to work with Reach’s gameplay. I’m hoping that 343 don’t remove maps like Ivory Tower, Sanctuary, Ascension, and Blood Gultch from their future remakes list just b/c of how they turned out in Reach. They are still great maps, but just needs a good game to play them on.

True, I’ve downloaded some pretty good remakes made in FW like Epitaph, Colossus, and some of them are really good. Plus I think that there are alot of environments that Halo hasn’t touched on and really should. Like Covy planets and even Underwater Submerged maps.

I agree 100% with you. As far as shipping the game, I think none of the maps should be remakes. I’m all for a map pack with a bunch of classic maps, I would definity buy that, but its just disappointing when you buy the game and there’s already like 3 maps that you’ve already played.
I say lets get remakes. Having seen what certain infinity, who seems to be handling all our future maps, can do- I say keep them from actually making anything.
We need new maps that will become classics later on in the trilogy. Lets push the others to the past. Well most. Like a vast majority of them. Maybe all but one. Sandtrap.

I agree with this too, it becomes detrimental to a game series if every map is just remade over and over again.

I agree, but one map pack with 3 remakes wouldn’t harm anyone. I don’t like the idea of maps being brought back multiple times. I think HEH and Beaver Creek are on their 3rd iteration now. I think that is enough for the time being despite how great they are.
This also forces 343 to go back and figure out what made these maps great which will have an impact on their future maps. This is another reason why I love how their first game is a CE remake. Learn from it 343, and apply lessons to Halo 4. Bring Halo back to it’s awesome core!
